Has anyone tried a bow mounted decoy for mulies? I'm debating on picking one up before the Dec/Jan season. Just curious if anyone has had experience good or bad. Daniel

Bow mounted, hand-held, doe hat, they all work great. I decoyed/called 16 bucks into range on the plains in 14 days of hunting that ended last Wednesday.
If you do bow-mount with the Heads Up, practice with it. It will try to cant your bow slightly toward whichever side it's mounted. I haven't tried the shoot-through models but those will work great too. I call gently with a soft bleat along with the decoying and it's golden.

What bleat call do you use?

Anymore I only use the Lohmans Kmeer Deer bite call. Has a nice soft tone that I can control and also can call softly hands-free while walking toward the deer.

I used to use full body whitetail decoys that I "converted" into mule deer decoys. Yes, it can work very well, but it's a lot of trouble. Last two years I began experimenting with the portable decoys and hat. Very interesting....
