Heading out for the first attempt at bowfishing this year. Gonna be the first time my cousins' new boat gets wet too, so even if we can't find fish it'll be entertaining. 35 degrees so it's gonna be rather nippy out there.

Good job! Are you on a river or a lake? Too early for them to be spawning, correct?

Lake...no I think they are just feeding. Heading to the launch now with 25 in the barrel. Pretty big ones overall and the one is a real pig. Gonna have to weigh it when we get in.

Y'all had a good night for it to be so cold. Nice bunch of fish. Good shootin'.
We won't see those size fish until around mid May or so.
You've fired me up! :-)

It seems like our most consistently good nights are fairly early in the year and fairly cold. Its always good to see the bank life again. Muskrats were everywhere and we actually saw a mink on a half-eaten rat.

Where do you find most of your fish, up close to the shore? I've never bow fished before so sorry if that's a dumb question. I have a buddy up in Wisconsin that shoots them in the spring when they're spawning. If they time it right, they'll shoot several 55 gal drums full of em.

Very cool, never thought to go after them in the dark. I don't like heat but I can stand on a rock all day in 100 degree temps waiting for a carp to swim by!

T-roy, yes we hunt mostly right along the bank and in the shallow coves. Most of the fish we shoot are in 2-5 feet of water.
Well there weren't any heat problems Thursday night. Cold feet was the biggest discomfort.
