Didn't realize Arizona had "Rocky Mountain" Bighorns, assumed Bighorns in Arizona were all "Desert" Bighorns...
Congrats to the bow hunter
Good luck, Robb
Nice job!!!
They only give about 16 tags statewide for Rocky Mountain Bighorns. As with all sheep tags in Arizona, they are all ram tags and all General (firearms) tags unless you choose to use a bow on the "firearms" hunt.
I was the Boone & Crockett measurer for this sheep (and on the Panel for the state record book), and it lost a lot of points due to all the chunks that were missing, but still a great sheep and officially the State Record for Rocky Mountain Bighorn in Arizona.
The day that credit cards started getting hit, Randy (the hunter that took this ram) and I both got hit and thought we were going to get to bowhunt together. We had both listed the same desert sheep hunt as our first choice, both had max points for AZ, there were only two tags for the hunt we wanted, and we both got hits! But a few weeks later, he found that he had actually drawn his second choice, which was a Rocky tag, while I drew my first choice, the Desert tag. Lucky for him!
Big Congratulations to the hunter!
Thank you for posting the video!!

Sorry, I didn't get to respond to your question to me. Yes, I was fortunate to take a nice ram that was officially scored at 173 2/8, which is ranked #3 all-time in Arizona for Desert Bighorns with a bow. I gave a short account of my hunt in this link.
Randy is a very nice guy, I am very happy for him!
