I applied for preference point as first choice and an almost guaranteed tag as second. I'm showing 590, so should I expect to be chasing velvet this fall?

Yippeee! Finally a 500 code shows up for me. Although, my 2nd, 3rd and 4th choices all had leftovers last year.....either that or I drew the 15 point tag I applied for with only 3 points.

I drew my 1st choice......PP, only 2 more years to go....I know, sacriledge, but an early, above timberline rifle hunt. Haven't rifle hunted in earnest in about 10 years.

Go to the Colorado Parks and Wildlife site under hunting, purchase a big game license. Go through it as though you are purchasing a license. Click on Habitat stamp and all other licenses. That page will show you the tags you already bought and a code.

Go to cdow website, navigate to the "buy/apply" tab then click it. Enter all your info as though you were going to actually put in for a new license. Then click on the "habitat stamp/other licenses" tab and look at the bottom where it says "products you already have on file". Look a 500 code for deer.

Looks like I bombed. Didn't expect to get my first choice, had a 60% chance on a second choice, and thought I had a 100% chance on my third choice. Guess I just traded $$$ for more points this year!

Do non residents get the same 500 code as residents if they drew a deer tag? I'm seeing both a 491 code and a 591 code.

You drew a deer tag. The 491 code is the application code and the 591 is the successful code
