I had a heck of a lot of fun turkey huntn this Spring. Here's a bunch of pics of the action. Warning: this thread will contain mostly bowhunting and end with a gun but not the way you might assume so check it out. I'm pretty sure this will make you smile :) Enjoy!

I drew my first ever turkey tag :) this year on the South Platte. I did a few days of scouting that probably wasn't necc. and decided on a spot for the opener. The evening before the opener found me sitting in a lawn chair, glassing, beer in hand.

There was handful of shotgun guys hunting the next day but luckily they went to the opp. side of the property that I was on. I was set up well before light and heard hundreds of gobbles before fly down. No takers on the decoys or my great (insert sarcasm) calling. So later in the morning I decided to move closer to where I'd heard them move through. Good call.

Looking down the river I could see about 15 toms and some hens. It wasn't long before they were heading my way. One of the toms broke off with a few hens and was face to face with my jake. When he turned to leave I let him have it

Fast forward to Easter. I had been keeping tabs on my OTC spot and the birds were there. I planned to camp for a few days if necc.

Soon after fly down I had 4 jakes come to the decoys. I picked one and my arrow was on its way. Bird #2 was down in seconds. The other 3 stuck around making me wish I had someone else with me. Woulda been a sure thing double.

Bummed that my season was over, I stayed in the blind for a bit texting and calling a few friends to see if anybody could hunt that day. No luck. Too bad. This guy came in an hour later

Very nice, Will! Congratulations. Did you run out and strangle either one of the toms? :)

A week later I talked my friend Justin into coming. Nothing like extending your season and watching your buddies shoot stuff :) Lots of gobbling that morning and finally we were able to call in the dominant hen. She brought a whole parade of gobblers! As she trotted to the decoys, Justin drew and what was originally just one tom became about 15-20 toms and jakes. Finally one stood still and he took an arrow just below the waddles. Good times!

LOL! Rick, believe it or not all these birds were shot in the body and lived for less than 5 seconds after the shot; no head bashing or choking necc. :)

My parents moved out here a little less than a year ago to be around their grandson. My father and I have had a ton of fun together since. My last goal of the season was to get my 80 year old Dad on his first turkey. We sat once for most of the day before these guys came in and gave him a 15 yard shot. Whiff! After talking about it he decided he would be happy to use the gun to make this happen

This past week we had a chance to get back out. It was like 50* in the morning and the old boy was freezing. Here he is wrapped in blind bags :) He's an excellent napper

Awesome hunt and pictures with your dad! I've been working on my dad for years to get him to come turkey with me. He's bowhunted for 40 years and never hunted turkeys. One of these years I'm going to buy him a tag and make him go! Ha! Priceless memories.

Congrats. I just got done spending a weekend hunting with my dad and can relate to how great it feels.
"A week later I talked my friend Justin into coming". Something tells me it doesn't take too much talking to convince "your friend Justin" to go bow hunting.
