This time last year I was getting the final details ironed out for my archery season. On the 15th I got sent to Baton Rouge to help with the floods and missed the entire archery season. Finally going to get some time to dedicate to chasing the almighty wapiti this year. This has been a long time coming, so going to make every second count!

For me it never fails, somehow September always turns into a crazy busy time for me. Started looking to buy a house about 3 months ago with hopes of it not interfering with elk season but of course the market here in Co is ridiculous so it took some time. Long story short my closing is on Aug 31. Then we can start moving! Somewhere between that, work and 5 kids starting a new school I'm supposed to squeeze in an elk hunt. Sheesh!

I am at 32 days. Yesterday, I had 8 bins of hunting stuff on my deck. Clean out tubs, sorted, resorted, and labeled bins. Made trail mix and bagged up. Final food has been ordered, new boots are expected this week, reserving my string, (Strand was almost broke), and plan on hitting a 3D this weekend.
I hit the gym 6 days last week. I keep visualizing climbing and sweating!

Heading to WY in 23 days! Just got back yesterday from a scouting trip, glad we did it too! Learned a lot about the unit & the lay of the land. Saw a fair number of elk as well! Heard a doz bugles, very nice!

Amoebus- Knee is ok as long as I don't run. (Downhills suck also, but I think I can power through that with Aleve or Hydrocodone if needed) Surgery scheduled for Dec 6th. Thanks for asking.
Very minor tweaking required after new serving. 3D went well. 40 targets and wore my pack w/60 lbs during the shoot. Also broke in my new Crispi Wyoming boots on the shoot.

Heading up to my spike camp in the Flat Top Wild Area on the 23rd in 10 days, for the opener on the 26th. Set up two trail cameras up there this week. I can hunt all 30 days of the season if needed. Good luck all. my best, Paul

I am headed to southern Arizona on the 23rd first day Coues Deer bowhunting will be the 25th. No Colorado hunts for me, just guiding this year.
