Whitetail Deer

Getting in my easy chair Kelly with a mug of coffee... Have fun, I know you will.
Kelly, I think I speak for all of us, you included, when I say that we sincerely hope a deer dies on this adventure this year! good luck and enjoy your vacation!
Good Luck, Be Safe and Have Fun!
Good luck Kelly, hope you get a big one !
I hear you Kelly! I haven't killed a whitetail buck in a couple years myself. It's more rewarding for me to get the girls on them! Good luck brother!
Good luck. I have had good interactions during rain, especially during the rut. Other than it being less than ideal comfort-wise, I bet there will be no negative impact on your hunt. Enjoy the time with friends and any deer is just a bonus.
Hope your hunt goes well Kelly. And a buck at least a 134 takes a dirt nap for you.
Good luck. You are overdue!
For the newby's on Bowsite, this is one of the most followed annual threads on here. Enjoy.
Good luck Kelly and Jayg. I hate thieving dicksmacks!
Good luck, another thread we have been waiting for a year to follow.
Good luck Kelly, I'll be following. Get that big one!
Good luck and have fun Lewis
Sitting here at work, chomping at the bit to head home, winterize my bees, load my car and trailer and head out there. I'm figuring to be on the road by 0500 tomorrow. My back and neck that I blew out over a month ago is coming back to where I can pull my bow again, but at only 55 lbs.. Getting old sucks butt. Anyhow, I'm bringing both bows, my HTR and HALON 32. The HALON shoots flatter at the lower poundage but the HTR draws easier, so it'll be a judgement call on what bow I bring out on any given day.. Anyhow, I have way too much stuff, but like the old saying goes, "it's better to have and not need than to need and not have".. Or the old Army saying, "travel light, freeze at night". I think I have my bases covered.... So tomorrow is when the snowflake ANTIFAs are supposed to be having their day.... Get in my way going to camp, your ass is getting run over. Beep, Beep. LOL
Good luck guys! Hoping some big boys show themselves for you all.
Of course, Morgan has to shoot the biggest one, next will be Michelle's and then probably Kelly's Dad. You guys might as well just shoot the first dink buck that shows up.
Best of luck! Great things await you!
Kelly, have fun, be safe and shoot straight. Keep us updated! J }}}----------->
All I ask is if you are going to post more pics of your hunting buddy's, you could at least post a pic of the good looking one. No offense to you or your hunting buddy Jay either. :^)
Seriously, good luck tomorrow and God Bless bro.
You’ll be out of he tree watching he bengals I bet
Your bengals have also said the hell with the nfl
Good luck to you Kelly. We're pullin' for 116"!!
Who gets the Pears And Pumpkin Spice stand?? "PAPS" for short. That's how your quests can rate the value of their friendship.
And don't give in and shoot 113 7/8" dink. Hold firm on the 114" stud!
Ambush - Would that be the PAP Smear Stand?
Good luck on that community scrape! Hopefully you both see some deer and get to fling an arrow or two.
Looks like a buck squirrel anyway:)
"Nope the hell with the NFL!!!! " You should see the BS amount of American Flags the Canton Pro Football Hall of fame have on their front yard! HYPOCRITES! They never used to have that many planted there... They must think we are really that dumb...
I'd Love some skyline right now.
I'd Love some skyline right now.
what I wouldn't give for a 4 way w/ beans right now. you are cruel.
Lunch looks great...but eat quick and get back out there. Good luck!
48? Geez...it was 19 here yesterday morning with a 20 mph wind! I even had to walk uphill to my stand both ways!
Don't bang too hard. Looks like you can't afford much more of it:)
Just kidding, that's what people have been telling me since my birth.
GL!
that is a classic selfie......he meant well at least
Good luck Kelly. If I had a choice of jumping in poison ivy or eating 10 lima beans I would opt for ivy. Have a great time.
Looks like one of Pat's blood trail challenge photos. "Find the dead deer"
I don't see a bobcat............
I just flat out love reading this!!!!!!!!!!
Ok so this really does sound like an excellent adventure!
What an incredible buck! Is that a scoped x-gun?
Best of luck Kelly & Dad.
You're having way too much fun Kelly. Enjoy it.
Good luck on taking a deer you want.
Kelly kill one on my birthday I can't seem to Lewis
Hey Kelly something to think about with your camper is your converter might be bad. You'll know soon as it will tank your battery. They are super easy to change but you'll have to find camping world.
No more Granny's Pizza either. Hit the Gillepsiville drive through on the way back to camp.

You all are having way to much fun!!
Enjoying this thread--------->
Good luck, Robb
Hang in there, it will happen.
Yawn.... Cmon things gotta pick up soon.
Anytime now, I can feel it..
He will be back Did you get Morgan to get up this morning.
Loving this Kelly. By the way, I heard never buy anything made on a Monday or Friday. Maybe that should also include from bow hunters who stay up for 24 hours at a time with lack of sleep. my best, Paul
Just came in no cigar hope you find it Lewis
your neighbor got his buck by hunting, you Kelly are socializing... and I enjoy every minute ;o)
"To be honest I’ve been on well over hundreds of blood Trails and with this deer climbing straight up a damn bluff for 250 feet I? think this deer will live to make another scrape! "
Did you read the conclusion of my Ohio hunt? Damn near 600 yards from POI, and he climbed a near vertical cliff that was nearly impossible for human to climb (50 yards long)... Then the blood ran out... Then Matt found him with no blood 75 yards from last spot of blood. High lung entrance, center lung exit.
Ouch! Tough hunt. Hang in there. By far the slowest year in Ohio during the traditional rut that I have ever experienced.
"I’m in the stand as is Michele, JayG, and my cousin Jason."
what the heck Kelly you playing poker in the stand or something. how big is that platform to hold four of you. no wonder you are not killing anything it is block party not a deer hunt.
Good luck! Hoping to see a dead BOB soon!!!
Can you please kill something soon? The fans are getting restless!
Is this hunt taking place in Connecticut? ;)
Give him a break ......this will be the decade he kills one there on this annual event. Be patient
I can almost hear Bill Murray narrate this thread ;0)
Come on Kelly the 3 musketeers in Kansas left the door wide open for you guys. We need a dead deer!
Making friends is important.
couple seasons ago was just about to get out of my stand at 11 am, saw a button chasing a doe and figured i"ll stay for a bit... 15 minutes later i downed the biggest buck in my hunting life. Stay in stand Kelly! you have a hot spot, today the day ma man, I just know it.
Good luck Kelly !
Your trail experience was better than mine this morning. I had a big black spot in my trail and I knew it didn’t belong there. I was wishing for a stronger light and a bigger pistol but I just kept walking and the stinking sucker eased off into the woods. Good thing, I wasn’t especially hankering for a Wild West showdown in the dark.
I saw good rut action this morning in my NJ woods - unfortunately 4 bucks were 1.5 yrs old and one was 2.5 yrs old. Have not seen a mature buck since I left Ohio! :(
Good luck Cuz - may today be YOUR day!
Well at least you got to shoot at the ol big one and seen him again. You'll get that buck, just keep after it.
Did you not read my post??? Stay put till noon and take a selfie with your buck...cmon maan!
Mods can you please move this thread to the CT forum where it belongs?
Just kidding Kelly! Good luck.
if the deer are heading into town you need to be hunting there Kelly.
you're in the right place at the right time. just be patient. it will happen.
Today’s the day Kelly! No better welcome for the youth hunt then a big boy hangin in camp!
Hang tough and take your mythical 114 :^}
You know he's there.
Last day for me too Kelly! Flu back tomorrow. GL!
Get the youngsters into camp ASAP, we need some dead deer on this thread.
Kelly don't be so damn selective today - a 125" 8pt is a helluva nice buck... 130" even better. 150" bucks are not a dime a dozen, even in Ohio. Put one down!
Jack, when you've got 14 125"+ bucks it's hard to just shoot anything. Seems he's found the one he wants and is willing to hold out, quit raggin on the man, GEESH! haha
From one father of daughters to another, if you get your buck do not field dress it until Morgan's boyfriend arrives. Cutting the balls off that buck while looking at him out of the corner of your eye will send a clear message! Ha!
Thanks, Brotsky. I will have to remember that.
I feel like it would hit home more though if you were staring a hole through his face as you were cutting....
Hey Kelly cuzn Jack (lol) got it done in the bottom of the 9th now it’s your turn hang in there!
You saw a Dwarf Doe!? Unreal, that in of itself is pretty cool man!
Also, the temps you posted look to be great for hunting, not sure many would complain about that. Im really hoping those youths come in there and clean house man, that would be great!
Sam, about 16, took this twenty minutes ago
Sam, about 16, took this twenty minutes ago
Morgan, is that your boyfriend?
Congrats to Sam!
That dude wouldnt weigh 197 with a 50lb sack of chicken feed on each shoulder....;^)
Your heart is in the right place and that is what counts. GL.
it will be crazy tomorrow after the rain stops and temps drop 30 degrees. be there and stay there.
Congratulations Sam. Awesome deer
morgan is no fool she was raised right and will do right. she has perspective and values.
Kelly hope today is the day back in Colorado adjusting to the time change and wishing I was in stand still so enjoy it!
Kelly Have you tried activating your phones mobile hotspot for net access?
That's what we use for our on-line activities including my consulting work, OSHA a USDOT type research etc.
Your iPhone or Android will allow laptops, PC and tablets access with no trouble.
What the heck did it fall out on 275 somewhere
Kelly, as a high school teacher I would never assign any work to be done during deer season and especially during youth season and on a Sunday night? What kind of monster is her teacher? LOL
she obviously supports PETA...
Kelly,
so is this year's adventure officially over or will you be heading back out there and brining us more action?
Kelly, how the heck did you lose a bin of hunting clothes?? Between the camper, your clothes, my issues with my back, my fridge and freezer going out whikle I was gone, my heater motor going out too, etc. I would say that this year was a cursed year.. WTF??
glad to know the year is not over and the action will continue. This thread is riveting each year, deer or not, and 2017 is no exception. Keep the news coming.
Here you can see the pinch point between the two ponds. I grew up fishing these two ponds. The pond in the right is where my father taught me to swim.
Decent rub line to my left.
Looks like a nice spot. Hope the deer think so too!
The lack of snow looks so inviting by the way!
Wow Kelly I have to tip my hat to you. I don’t think I could hold out like you have.
I have a buddy that knows the feeling of loosing a tote with hunting gear in it. He lost binoculars, rangefinder all his camo, etc. Worse part was it was on his way to hunting camp. He had to borrow from all of us to make the week hunt.
Thanks for sharing your season. What a great thread.
John Cameron Swazi once said... "takes a lickn and keeps on tickn" that can also apply to you my Friend. scentman
Good luck today for the Harris family! I was not too far away (Carbon Hill) during the last week of October, hunting with my brother, nephew and a few buddies. We all had encounters, but nobody to close the deal. If I wan't so damn busy with work right now, I'd be sitting in a tree down there for the next couple days.... Let's see those 114 pics asap!
Good luck to all of you!
Kelly, I hope your bid wins the BT auction, seriously. I know you guys are good friends and that will be a real treat for Morgan. You are a good man and take care of your family. Have fun together!
Sure seems like a lot of foliage left. It is totally bare on my farm.
Well, I was away for a couple weeks and finally got to check the thread. A couple things are apparent. Kelly is not going to shoot a buck he deems not big enough. He is family first. And, Michelle is still a cutie pie. :^)
Good luck Harris family.
This weather through the Midwest is just nuts! Guys here in KS and MO are saying they saw less deer this year than any recent years. I personally do not think there are less deer, but they are moving more at night. They have their winter coats on already and we are still hitting the 60s and 70s. Discouraging to still be sweating hanging a stand this time of the year. I had insects still flying around me on Saturday. Be safe.
It will if that is the only guy shooting at him
I think the deer read the regulations and know when firearms season is on.
Live bowsite gun hunt. Sweet.
His bow was in the Jeep. Give the man a break. He is tard and finely got one!!!!
congrats on the doe, do you remember how to gut a deer?
you have to mount it now right.
Deer down.....good eats.....congrats Kelly!
Now this thread is taking off.
Congrats kelly. Always enjoy your november hunt thread
Congrats on meat in the freezer.
Am I the only one that keeps hoping for a Nick/Kelly weeklong hunt together? Now THAT would be a most excellent adventure.
I don't think Nick could go that long without killing something.
Beav...That is the funniest post I've read around here in a LONG time.
I just spit my coffee out Beav! THANKS
Lol. Thanks Beav, that was great.
I gust googled it.....it’s even more impressive than I thought! I also googled Kelly Harris bow hunter.... nobody we would recognize Lmao
^^^^^ " I don't think Nick could go that long without killing something. "
Nick is in a different category.
299 posts and 285 are Kelly's
Serious question - Do you have to check them whole? If not why not gutless process the doe? 4 1/4s back straps and tenderloins can't total 100 lbs and that's a heck of a lot easier to handle then dragging a doe out of the woods whole. Sandbrew
Cabelas has them on sale

You can hang it up in the garage at your new cabin.
I had the pleasure of meeting JayG@work last evening; I made the trek to his place North of me, to pick up a Lone Wolf Treestand from him, I gotta tell you; I made a good friend...what a guy. He has had some major adversity with his spine and neck, and he just oozes passion for hunting the Whitetail Buck with bow and arrow. Kelly you are lucky to share deer camp with him. Too boot, I hunt just up the road from your lease in Ohio..small world!
Just curious, in previous years what brought these excellent adventures to a merciful end?
Buying a pack frame for an urban deer hunt sounds like a great place to stop.
"299 posts and 285 are Kelly's "
And now 0 are from him, so strange...to erase an entire deer season of memories.
Kelly, I appreciated this thread. We are both in our 50s and I am impressed that you are comfortable with your past successes at hunting that you now enjoy the social aspects more. I feel this is something I do not slow down enough for. I still try to be that focused predator that I was in my 20s and 30s. Even my cabin is basic because it is about just sleeping. I am enjoying your cabin thread equally as much as this one.
You helped me realize it is OK to slow down and just enjoy the entire experience of hunting.
While I am certainly blown away by the success of some posters, we do not have to all have the same goals to be respected. I am not even capable of what many accomplish, but that doesn't mean I enjoy it any less.
Keep at it! Enjoy the journey.
Damn! It's over?! I guess it's back to self flagellation for me.
This breaks my heart. I can’t stop thinking about his cabin plans and looking forward to retirement. Man, we need to live every day to the fullest! Life is no doubt short. Godspeed Kelly. Here’s the 2017 adventure. Miss his posts already
Some of us will live twice as long, and have had half the life. I only feel for his family for missing him. No doubt Kelly is already tearing it up in heaven;)
