Put this tank out of commission this morning. He tried to slip through my setup on his way to find the gals. He was all gussied up with caked on mud and smelt of diesel fuel. 22 yard shot and watched him fall in 75. Ready for a few shots of bourbon now!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Nice Rick! Congrats!

Diesel fuel? Any explanation for that?

They rub up against those electrical line poles... it's soaked in creosote and smells like diesel fuel.

So if a giant deer is a “hog”, what the heck do you call that???

Serious beast!!

GF, I have lots of names for them, but in deference to the "profanity" thread, I'll just call that one a nasty bastard. When they root up every square foot of my place, I get real colorful !

That is huge! Any idea of weight?

Congratulations!

Frank... I've actually weighed two big boars in all the time I've been killing them. One that my buddy killed was convenient to drag with a 4 wheeler back to camp, it weighed 185 lbs. Another that I killed, weighed close to that at 190.

With that said, this one was not convenient to get out so I couldn't weigh him. He was at least 25-30% bigger than those other two hogs I have weighed. So, I would guesstimate around 250-260 lbs. I had to drag him myself too. Keep in mind he was caked with sticky mud, making it that much harder. Also, he was so thick and wide that he acted like a mini bulldozer. I had to clear the leaves and tree branches every 10 yards or so. With deer and smaller pigs, you can lift a bit while you drag and they plain above the leaves or grass. Not this dude. He cleared a 200 yard dirt path right to the creek.

That was a day where I wish I had a buddy with me.

This works pretty well to determine weight on an "unhandy" hog.
