Compton Traditional Bowhunters. P&Y does also, there is an asterisk (*) shown in the book when the animal was taken using traditional equipment.

Since 1965 the Longest tenured P&Y Club record the “Typical Whitetail”. Mel Johnson’s Beanfield buck from 1965.

Problem with Comptons is that they add in all sorts of "extra credit" to the score for stuff unrelated to the animal. They award extra points for longbow vs recurve, wood arrows, wool underwear, wearing a fedora when you shot it, etc.. P&Y traditional book recognizes the animal's antler score only.
I never thought my longbow kills were more deserving of extra credit than my recurve kills...

Fact is all P&Y whitetail world records through the years were taken with traditional gear until the Beatty Buck, and so far it's the only P&Y WR taken with a compound... Mel's typical is still on top...
