0 Unfortunately, I've never had (or made) the opportunity to hunt whitetails, since I live in one of the very few states that doesn't have any...

I arrowed 2 this season that will make it.

I've found that's a tougher thing to do than one might think! I did kill & enter qualifying bucks in back-to-back years in 2009 and 2010. With the others there has been a year or longer in between. I did get two in the same year once, in 2014 ;-)

I'll bet Charlie has done it several years in a row by now!

3 - 2012-13' and 14'. 2015, buck grossed over 140 didn't net. 2016 buck will make P&Y. 2017... it's been tough. SE Oklahoma deer.

One for me, but I don't think you can get consecutive out of that :-)

From: t-roy

I haven’t ever entered one in P&Y, but I would say roughly at least 9-10 years on net p&y class bucks, most of them 140s net or better. In two or three of those years, I killed 2 bucks those years that would qualify if entered. There are several of those bucks that I now wished that I hadn’t killed because they were younger bucks that could have potentially really blown up into a giant had I held off even 1 more year. I’m very blessed in that I live in some really good whitetail country.

I only have one buck tag for the rut here in Iowa. I stopped shooting the first 140 class buck to come by in hopes of killing a bigger one. That means that some years I will have tag soup. I have killed three in the last two seasons so far, still have one more tag in my pocket. I haven't entered any of them in the book either.

4 years - 2009 - 2012. Shot 5 P&Y class - then we got hammered with EHD and it's been pretty slim for a few years. Shot 2 good ones since 12.

Do you mean P&L class or actual P&Y certified....................it's only P&Y if it is officially scored and paid for and entered

From: Bake

Just two consecutive years. '14 and '15. Seems like I usually have at least a couple years between good bucks.

From: SBH
27-Dec-17
Good point Bou. Some people's deer get pretty big after a few beers and a contractors tape! Having it officially scored is a whole other deal. Really gives you an appreciation for big deer and even deer that barely make book....those are great deer in my world.

For me...I'm hoping I got my first this year. Will have it scored this winter and see where he lands. He makes it on my tape but I don't know what the hell I'm doing! Looking forward to seeing it scored by someone who does.

From: t-roy
27-Dec-17
That’s why I stated P&Y “class” in my post, bou. Still, the scoring system is the same. It is simply a common marker to convey size that people can relate to. It’s also true that, after a few beers and a contractor’s tape, there is some embellishment going on upon occasion, however, I’d bet there are more than a few guys on here that can usually get within an inch or so of an “official” measurer’s score sheet as well.

27-Dec-17
t-roy... exactly! It's not that difficult. Especially on a typical frame. Seems the P&Y police want to come out every time a thread like this pops up.

27-Dec-17
I’ll one-up Forest at 47.5. Not bragging, just stating facts. :)

Instead of Pope ‘& Young deer Call them Leroy & Paul Class deer so I don’t get confused.

Can I also include crossbow kills? lol

From: M.Pauls
27-Dec-17
I’m at 6. 2012 to present. But they’re Leroy and Paul class as Charlie puts it as I don’t usually enter. But like T-toy says, I think I’m within an inch. I’ve seen more variance from measurer to measurer. I killed a real big boy in 2012 measured twice, once at 189 and once at 195 5/8 net. A week apart. Oh and it got bigger as it dried lol. Both official measures.I also don’t care much for nets although these all net well within L&P

From: molsonarcher
27-Dec-17
4 that would make the book, only entered 2. 2012-2015

2 total including one last year. Like Scrappy, passed multiple P&Y bucks hoping for a giant on my out of state trip to Iowa.

From: Shawn
28-Dec-17
3 2014,2015 and 2016, all killed within a few hundred yards of each other. None entered but all would net P&Y and all scored by an official measurer for P&Y just not entered. Shawn
