MN 8 point ........ poached a few years ago! .......192 3/8 .... 28 inch inside spread, it would have been the best 8-point whitetail ever. A world record deer. Second place? 180-3/8", the score awarded to a South Dakota buck killed by Vernon Winter in 1965.

Sorry, not a very good pic.

Agreed with M.Pauls. Definitely not a 120s, but a horrible pic to get much of a true perspective of how huge this deer really is.

'..would have been the best 8 point whitetail ever...' It still is the best 8 pt ever. Its just not documented in a B&C record book. So what? It still exists...

From: Kodiak
27-Dec-17
Well the thing is, is that he robbed legit hunters out of the chance to legally harvest it. It was a known deer in the local bowhunting community. Dude shot it with a rifle and tried to pass it off as a bow kill. He also killed two bucks before this one and didn't tag either.

A real POS.

From: M.Pauls

That’s a real beauty 4x Ohio. I think anyone would give a left nut to have a crack at that guy. Looks to be a Boone 4x. Hard to say exactly how big without having a real solid guess on mass. My guess on him is 165-170 giving his tines 5,13,12 but I can’t see if his off side is weaker

From: t-roy
28-Dec-17
I don’t think he’d take the title, but that is a giant 8 pt! I killed a 168” 8 pointer and that deer is considerably bigger. Tine length is similar, but longer main beams and better mass for sure. I’d guess that 8 to be in the mid-upper 170s. Somewhat hard to tell from the pic. Any other pics of him?

From: Kodiak
28-Dec-17
Wow ohiohunter that's a monster 8.

I'll guess 180ish.

From: Tunaman

The late John Collins of James Valley Scents to my knowledge was the last owner I was aware of who owned the world's largest 4X4. The Buck was shot by a Hunter that I don't know the name of who'd shot it in S. Dakota in 1950. I personally held the AMAZING Rack and it scored, AND I do believe it was a net score of 200 1/8th!!! Surely someone else out there must know of that Buck. Sadly John passed away a few years ago and I don't know what became of his collection. I'll look into it more so over the next month and look forward to anyone else with knowledge of that Buck to post on here about it. Thanks

Yeah Genesis, I was off too on my guess by quite a bit. It’s always tough when judging crazy big white tails, especially off one pic. I usually down play a little as I’m telling myself this angle has got to be messing with me as it seems to good to be true. Obviously this one was just pure big. It takes a heck of a deer to crack 160 as a 4. I included my tine length estimations in my first post. Once other pics and angles came up of him I realized this buck was in fact pure stud and I was way off on tine length as well as I think what I had in mind for main beams. I think I had him in my head averages of 5” circumferences which would probably be close, as an average, with the first being around 6 and the last around 4. I’m not always about the score number but it’s just such a testament to what some deer can do and I find it incredibly interesting. I’d love to see his score sheet. Absolute giant!

I held that record 8 point in my hands! The Conservation Officer that had control of the rack at the time invited me to her house to see them. It was two days before our Minnesota whitetail rifle opener. I remember saying, why am I even going hunting to look for a big buck after that! Been looking for that picture now after seeing this thread and damned if I can locate it. So, I figure to spend some of these below zero days we been having for a week to clean out some of my camera and computer photos!

The Vernon Winter Buck from SE Hand County, South Dakota was killed with one shot from a 30/30 carbine with old buckhorn iron sights from 250 - 300 yards away on 1/1/1965... (Possibly) #6... Even though Mike Kemble's Portage County, Ohio 4x4 xgun kill on November 3rd, 2011 didn't break the 180" mark missing it by less than a half inch with official net score of 179-5/8", the buck is worth an honorable mention... Buck said to have a gross score of 186 1/4" and features more than six inches at either base with an inside spread of 20 6/8-inches, both beams taped out at greater than 29 inches, but I couldn't find it listed in B&C records although it is officially listed in Ohio's records as Typical Net score of 179-5/8": https://apps.ohiodnr.gov/wildlife/bigbuck/

This Alberta monster likely rifle killed in November of 2007... I do not know the hunters name or the official score, or if it was even scored... This was the only photo I could find of it...

Rumored it nets 201 3/8", but another place saying that is grosses that number buts nets in the 180s"... The 180s" sounds likely to me, and it was said there are stickers that the photo doesn't show in the view...

Seen this buck's picture a couple places but here is what I found on him on this Bowsite:

https://forums.bowsite.com/tf/bgforums/thread.cfm?forum=4&threadid=334820 "From: nebwhitetailt8kr 31-Jan-08 I think this guy might be it...Taken this year in Alberta...nets 201 3/8 From: TurkeyHntnFool31 Jan-08 nebwhitetail killer, do you have anymore info on that buck? From: nebwhitetailt8kr 31-31-Jan-08 The buck was taken by a riflehunter this season 100 percent fair chase in Alberta. I don't know the hunter, but my dad is good friends with the outfitter that he shot it with. The outfitter is also the owner of rackulator, so you can bet the deer was scored correctly. This is just one of the many truley amazing bucks that I've seen from this place. I think the buck professionally scored out at 201 3/8 inches, and I do believe that is net. From: nebwhitetailt8kr 31-Jan-08Private www.bigrackadventures.com is there website. Buzz over there and check out some of the other deer taken up there..It's amazing From: 5575 01-Feb-08 His nickname is mate, he's English and a guide for Blair Trout at big rack adventures. The 201 you speak of is the gross score, he has some trash points that you can't see in the photo. He is a main frame 4x4 thou and nets in the 180s just a giant, and like they said was shot this past nov. I'm sure there will be more about it in the future"
