T Roy I’ll never forget that bull in the water picture. It gives me the feeling of lots of hard wet work ahead. So why do I wish I was there? Haha

It’s certainly one on my favorites, Mule! It definitely made things more complicated, but I loved every minute of it. The fulfillment of a dream I’d had since I was kid!

This was day 1 of freeze up on the Chukchi Sea near Point Hope. There hadn't been any time for snow to land or blow onto the ice. The picture doesn't do it justice. It was one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. The temp dropped in a day from 10ish to well below zero when the wind switched from the south to the north. You can see the coast line, which is north-south showing the northern wind that froze the ocean solid and almost like it happened instantly, trapping the waves for the winter.

Glad I left the East Coast and moved there when I was 20 instead of just talking about it. In retrospect, it makes more sense than growing old and posting on SM how much I would "like to live there, but I have obligations...!"

Not necessarily hunting related, but great hiking here too. The Summit of the West Butte as conquered by my 6 year old at the time.

I absolutely love that State. I have told my wife we ought to retire there. A week into winter I would probably be crying to come back home. Guess the ducks and geese are pretty smart after all.

Been to AK four times, going again August. Fishing mainly, but hunted caribou for 10 days in Lake Clark area. Truly a wilderness experience. I too moved from the east coast at 22, but only made it as far as Montana (for 10 yrs), then to WA/OR (for 20 yrs). AK should have been my next stop.. but wife would not like it. I can always visit. Moose and sheep is on the agenda. I'd move there if single.

I’m a five timer to Alaska including a summer fishing job on Kodiak when I was in my late teens. If I hadn’t been so close with my girlfriend (now wife) I don’t think I ever would have left. Been back ro Kodiak for Blacktails, sheep in the Kenai’s, moose on the Koyukuk and bou on the Selawik. By FAR my favorite destination.

The "Something about Alaska" is the brown bear on the far hillside. It's about 2 o'clock above my left ear. You probably can't see it, but I see it in my minds eye every time I think about this trip. Bow hunting with these guys around is "Alaska" to me.
