I had seen that somewhere else. Really cool looking head. Not sure why the barbed thing behind it? Maybe to keep the animal bleeding?

Maybe to keep it in, might have had a line on it.

Is it possible it’s for seals or walrus or whales?

The arrow is NOT 900 years old, it is MY arrow that I lost on a mammoth hunt when I lived down in Juneau and hunted off the Coast Range ice field, circa 2001. I Just used an old caribou antler so that is why the date is skewed. I killed a great bull mammoth on that hunt but unfortunately my film was lost in a crevasse on a particularly tricky glacier crossing.

1st Generation Rage BH. Since it had barbs, it was probably illegal to use in several states.

Cool stuff!

I heard the owner of that broadhead wrote on cave walls about how hunting was on a serious decline and about to be extinct. Word is, it drew cave/rave reviews....

Looks far too deadly to be made by Rage.

Amazing find. The person was probably hunting sheep for his Super Slam.

Fish harpoon?? or Broadhead?

Did Thag the Victorious get sponsorship on this thing? You know the saying" Nothing to Fear but Fear Itself??" Yogi Berra- Quoting Delano Roosevelt, who was quoting Theodore Roosevelt who quoted Henry David Thoreau, who was quoting, Francis Bacon referencing Shakespeare referencing Pliny the Elder and he traced it back to Thag the Mastadon, Saber-tooth Tiger, Smilodon slayer. No really he did...

H, I remember seeing that story, it was written on a wall inside of a cave, with drawings. Peter.

looks like a harpoon head/atl-atl foreshaft rather than an arrow as in to be shot from a bow. As to forging copper 900 years ago, the Norse were in the area then.... they most likely imported hot metal working technology and the natives were bright (as all races are) and picked up on it.

The barbed antler shaft was to make it fly better out of the crossbow. ;)
