On the 21st I'm headed to Nebraska to try to get the second leg on a "turkey slam". I've already got the Eastern, now I'm going for the Miriam. Here's hoping,

I also thought, WOW, there's turkeys in New Brunswick?!

MANY of the Nebraska birds are hybrids, as you probably already know....

Heading back on Sunday, just after the cold front and light snow blows through. Warmer and sunny the rest of the week.

You guys that travel for turkeys........ Are you hunting with outfitters ?? Public land do it yourself ?? Private land that you were invited to hunt ?? Just curious.....

If you're going to be in the Chadron area you should consider a stop at the Museum of the Fur Trade, it's located three miles east of Chadron on the south side of the road. Lots of good history and has the largest collection of guns from that era in the country.

Ft. Robinson State Park (about 20+miles west of Chadron) is worth a visit too. It played a large part during the last part of the Plains Indian war, and Crazy Horse was killed there (they're recreated the buildings from that time).

I'll be in Nebraska on the 13th and be hunting the 14th in south central area of the state. All state land WMA areas and other public ground for us, always get into some birds and have a blast while we are there. Very friendly people too, can't wait!

I'm going with an outfitter. Traveling that far with limited time, it's worth the cost to me.

Friendliest people I have ever met live in Nebraska. It's like visiting the folks in Mayberry. Good Luck.

Just got back. I took this nice bird, the outfitter, Dana at Balancing Arrow Outfitters, said it weighed 22#. 20 yard shot and he went about 5 yards. I only took one because my bow broke when I had the second one lined up. TMBB

Bob may not have too many bows now

Evidently, the top cam got buggered and to bow dry fired when I was letting loose a shot on my second turkey. Glad I at least got one. TMBB
