Well, i am going to Colorado for elk. I drew deer only...
I can't get in! Don't have a good feeling but this is killing me
I get a refund. Unless I hit the Utah lottery I can keep my dad bod for another year.
Nothing here. Website is currently down now.
Big smiles for me and my uncle. Early archery elk.
Randy it seems like you hunt NM every year!
Congrats to Scoot and Randy! Save some for me next year. No love for me.
16D second season, Burro Mtn whitetail Muzzleloader and the wife drew an Oryx tag. Yes, Yes, Yes!!
Elk and a low rate deer hunt. Praise the draw gods.
Unit 15 early season elk for me. Looks like i will spend a lot of time down there this year. Woo hoo!
It’s quarter to noon but it’s happy hour in Colorado!!! First choice. I’m in shock
Barbary Sheep for Don V and I!!!!
Red is not flattering on me
Nothing for me. My brother didn’t draw as well. This is starting to get old. Best of luck to you lucky suckers.
Unit 21 deer here, everything else is red...however, my daughter drew 4 of 5 tags for her last youth hunt...2B youth deer, 6B youth elk, youth antelope ES on the triangle cattle ranch and youth oryx in Rhodes Canyon!!! I'm more excited she drew than me drawing, lot's of hunting this year!
Drew unit 51 first season archery elk. YES!!!!!
Wow Carlos! Your daughter is a lucky lady! Way to go!
That first season unit 51 should be good. Usually better than 2nd. Water of course! Congrats
Unit 8 for deer, my favorite. 7% odds last year.
Congratulations to all the lucky ones! Carlos sounds like an awesome year with your daughter this year! Hope she has a blast with Dad!
Barbary sheep and off range Oryx for me
Drew Gila 16D, 2nd season. Holy cow! Totally wasn't expecting that!!!!
Drew 51 archery 2nd season :)
Gonna go to the Inn of the Mountain Gods tonight and get hammered.... Drew Archery bull and Antelope
No go here. Why won't New Mexico take my money?
Nothing for me but my kids knocked it out of the park.
Humphries/Rio Chama youth deer, unit 2 youth antelope, Dec youth off range oryx, 2B youth rifle, Dec unit 2 cow.
Congrats on the 16D tag. Pretty country
Archery elk. 2nd season. Thank you Lord!
No go for me but a young dude that I mentor drew 16C second season! That means that I am going to the elk woods!
Seems like draw odds are tougher for second season?
Is first archery season a tough hunt? No rut action?
Its sad when somebodys going to give you back several hundred dollars and your disappointed! No luck for me and my son.
Looks like I'll be hunting 16b!
Doggy doo for us, anyone want to tell me where to go in Colorado LOL. Been there twice and haven’t done too well.
Pyrannah, The second season is always better if you like bugling and stupid bulls. The first hunt can be great if you find some good water and it's dry. In areas with high bull to cow ratios they get talking earlier and the first hunt can be good. In most units they start talking the last 3 or 4 days of the first hunt. Having a first season tag is way better than no tag at all. You have 3 choices so I put in a first season hunt at least for third choice. This year we put in all choices for the early hunt because I already drew an AZ tag for the 9/14-27. Life is good and I'm truly blessed. It's going to be another great year and like I always say, you can't draw if you don't apply.
No elk for me but did draw a deer tag
16B for me, first NM hunt ! Gila here I come!
Congrats you all that drew!! No complaints from me about my results
I only do 1 unit/1 choice as by my desire.
Have fun and enjoy

A big swing and a miss for me but my oldest boy (13) just drew 23 youth rifle, so I've feeling pretty good about the results.
10 years in a row.....Nada
No luck in the draw here.
Treeline/Brotsky, thank you. It's always a blast taking her hunting. Sadly this is the last year she can apply as a youth, been doing this since she was 11. Here is a picture of the bull she killed last year in 34, 187 yards with one shot from her 7mm-08. Good luck this year everyone.
First Congrats to all who got drawn. I know that NM is a great hunting state! That said, I have never put in and are not likely too. Let me see if I have this all straight for the straight draw tags. NRs get:
1)Less than 10% of the tags 2) Zero preference/bonus points. You odds when putting in for the 10th year or the same as the first year. 3) No cow tags
I think that is what I heard about NM. For that and some other reasons, I don't foresee any applications there which gives you guys a better chance! Good luck in the fall.
No preference points is the beauty of the N.M. big game draw. If there were points you’d have to wait longer to actually draw plus having to contend with point creep. I have drawn 3 times in 10 years. A young guy that I know drew a Gila tag this year which was on his second time applying. It doesn’t get any better than that as far as I am concerned.
+1 Pigsticker, You have it so right. Unless the points are cheep or free, I don't want get tied up with more than a few points. I am suffering major point creep in 3 different states. In NM all NR have the same odds going in. I prefer the no point system. Utah has a system (easy to navigate) that lets you buy a license every other year and only charges $10 per point per species. Unfortunately, I think they have to worse or most notable point creep. LaGriz
Couldn't agree more Pigsticker.... I think NM has the best draw process by far... Wish they wouldn't have taken the additional 4% NR tags or whatever it was a few years ago but all in all - big fan...
UT's point system doesn't work the way many think...
While I still prefer random draws I actually think Utah's draw system is quite reasonable as far as bonus points go. Utah's problem is the extremely low amount of tags given out in the draw due to all the tags siphoned off to SFW.
I just wish they would go back to the old system. If you put in for archery elk, you couldn’t apply for elk with any other weapon. Put all the landowner tags back in the draw, if landowners want to thin numbers on their ranches, then they can sell access to guides and hunters who have drawn tags. Then, go back to unlimited resident archery tags, if you put in for archery tag you cannot put in for any other weapon. The hunt was also sept 1 to the 22 or 25th, you hunted whenever you wanted to. For non res, they could then lottery issue so many per unit , increasing the odds for non resident also.
elk yinzer is exactly right.
I feel very lucky....for my son! He drew a Youth Tag for the 2nd time in 7 years. Nothing like hunting with family!! It's a general tag, but he is asking to hunt with his bow since he was fortunate enough to take a great bull last time with his rifle.
Good luck to all who drew and my condolences to those who did not.
Russ
Whole lotta red on my page.
Congrats to those that drew and condolences to those that didn't. :)
Drew 1 choice elk, deer, and Barbary!! Son drew elk ,deer ,oryx off range!! Super pumped!
Went one for seven this time, my last year as a resident, but I get to go back to the Gila for big bulls first hunt. Will be there the whole 14 days this time if needed.
Also drew my fav deer tag. January is gonna be fun! Again ;)
Refund for everything hit today on my Amex, stuck out across the board.
At this rate I'll probably die before drawing a New Mexico Elk tag. Good luck to those who drew!
Thanks Ohio! I really am pumped! Best we've ever drawn! Usually get elk and deer but the first choice deer for me n my son has been forever anticipated.
