Anybody know what finish was used on mid 70s Bear grizzly? Grayling MI version. I just got one with some minor scratches to the finish. Thought I could put on a thin coat to touch up. Want to try and match what's on it.

I had a Bear "White Tail" back then - I assume it would be a non-glare polyurethane???

Inshart it's dull finish don't know if it's from age or not. Just wondering if water based oil base whatever.. I had white tail hunter also.

I sprayed one that was beat up that I only used to bowfish with spray can polyurethane and it hid a lot of the scratches.

Bear Grizzly recurves have been manufactured for 50+ years. If it isn’t too bad I would just sand it lightly with 240 or 320 grit sandpaper and spray it with some satin poly. OOO steel wool would work too.

If you want to strip it completely then a good 2 part epoxy like thunderbird or fullerplast would be the best.

Thanks. Shawn and BSBD. Googled the fullerplast. Going with it.
