Spring has finally come to Manitoba it’s been a long time coming, We should be able to get at most baits this week not expecting much movement till beginning of May. The guys r getting excited to come to Camp especially our first time hunters praying for a safe and fun hunt and bear steak. Blessings on your day everyone.

Here is a pic out of the picture window in our new house / cabin up at where we call Camp there’s the Camp bait in the corner some of the guys sit in the hunting shack instead of on the stand we will be watching bears from the living room this year. I get a little overwhelmed when I see what else needs to be done in the yard shop this year and landscaping but the scenery and deer we have around the house makes it worth it. We r happy the Lord has blessed us with this place.

Sounds like ticks are bad this year. The key is Permethrin. Spray it on your boots and clothes and let it air dry. Odorless and keeps working up to 6 washings. Been using it for 4 years now and it does a really good job keeping the little buggers from crawling on you.

Were having fun with the last 4 guys trying to find them the right bear that there happy with, two want color my guy had shooter bears this week but all black except a chocolate sow with a black yearling so far, jmail has not had anything big on his bait yet this week, the other two guys ones looking for a color but hasn't seen one yet, and the other guy is looking for a shooter any color nothing big enough yet with good hair. There r not after the bait like most years not sure what they r lacking this year, wear going to need a little luck and the good Lord on our side to get things done this month. have a great day all Blessings

I had a great week up there this past week ! Even though I didn't get to take a colored phase bear that I was looking for I seen plenty of bear's and had an awesome time ! Just getting to meet Alexis and April was worth the trip you couldn't ask for any nicer and honest people ! Well it was raining hard all night only four guys went out, the all seen at least one bear I was surprised usually not that good in the rain. We got to skin one brute 417 lbs black a first time bearhunter doesn’t get any better Congrats Joe Vanharen on your bow kill. They took some pics hope to put one on tommmorow. Good night all.

Just got back from two weeks of Hunting Bears in Saskatchewan and Manitoba. It truly is my favorite two weeks of the year.
The first week was spent with the Desjardins in Manitoba. Case and Andy it was a pleasure to meet you. Scott and Chuck it was good to spend time with you again. Joe, I am so happy for your trophy. You deserve it. Elliot and Bill, what can I say. I love you both. Thank you so much Lexi and April. My words can not express our friendship. I was lucky to find you.
I didn't shoot this Spring in Manitoba. I had my chances. There are "two shooter" bears that I passed on. That's Joe's fault. You set the bar too high.......I'll be back this Fall.
Desjardins is a Bear hunter's paradise. It doesn't get any better. Thank you.
I did kill a beautiful Cinnamon in Saskatchewan just to prove that I'm not just a "Bear Watcher".

Thanks Greg it’s always a pleasure having u in Camp and the rest of the guys were great also. Although this spring was a little slower than most years it’s was cold right to the end of April then it warmed up into the 30 celcius in May very odd year. The vegetation we get in June came in May this year the bears didn’t come out of the hills. But the guys still seen plenty of bear just weren’t fussy for the bait. Thanks all that came out this spring we will be at it the end of August for a weeks hunt, Just picked up 25 -45 gallon barrels of the good stuff they will be in trouble. The best thing about not shooting a bear in the spring is being able to go back in the fall to see Alexis, April & you Greg. Congrats on your SK bear Greg. It was a BEAUTY!
Just talked to Andy tonight. He is totally fired up for fall.
