Hey guys, I'm looking for a little help/guidance here. I've hunted NM Elk all my life but have not drawn the past 3 years in a row... I am a NonRes to Colorado...HOWEVER, my son just finished his first year at CSU, so considering what I've paid this past year and due the next 3+ years, I'm not just some free grazer..... Anyway, I did not draw anything in CO but did buy an either sex archery elk tag. I'm looking for recommendations west of Ft. Collins. I know some folks frown on NonRes hunters, but i'm hoping for some honest good will here. I'm willing to share my NM Elk hunting locations in trade.... or cold beer and whiskey at elk camp.... thanks for any help! Mike

Mike is your son living in Colorado? Tell him he owes you lots of scouting trips for all that tuition! Find some “spots” on google earth and send him scouting!

Ucsdryder - that's funny you say that.... I sent him a google map of a few spots north and south of Hwy 14 earlier today........ if he wants rent $$$ he's going to have to do some scouting....... looks like pretty good access to some back country........ I'm always studying google earth as well as solicit advice from locals.....

Have you considered the Rawah Wilderness area if it's in your unit? N., west of Ft. Collins. I did lots of Elk up past Red Feather Lakes (N of Ft. Collins) on Deadman Mtn.. Not been there since 1990 but not sure about draws in those units now.

The Rawahs are a draw unit now.
