A close friend, Rhett Bickley, who went by Tradorion, was a regular on this site for many years passed away unexpectedly several days ago. When we used to elk hunt together, he spoke of many relationships via Bowsite. If any of you guys are still around, thought you might want to know. He commented on Kevin Dill's "Dagger" thread just last week. There's a huge hole in my heart where a wonderful friend and backcountry bowhunting brother used to be.
Sorry for your loss......

Prayers to all. Sorry for your loss
WOW! That is sad. I met Rhett and his elk hunting friend (both army rangers retired) on Bowsite years back and helped them choose an elk hunting area near Steamboat Springs, ie, the Sarvis Wilderness Area. I joined them in their camp to help them hunt elk as they were having problems getting into them. Rhett and I met on the highway and we both hike up to their camp which was a floor- less tepee. We were to hunt the follow few days. That night it snowed 6 inch of very wet snow and covered the outside of the tent not allowing the tent to breath so the condensation dripped down all night inside the tent. They both had army bivy sacks that protected their down bags. I did not and I got very damp. The next morning the fog was very thick and I was unable to hunt with them and not being able to dry out, and had to hike down to the truck. We communicated after the hunt and Rhett sent me his army bivy sack which I still have and use.
Sorry to hear about his passing. Life is too short so take advantage of every day. My best, Paul

I recall Tradorian posting here many times in the past. I didn't know him, but it seems he was made of all the right things. This life is so much bigger than our passions, and time is very precious. I've said it before: Inspiration is sometimes found in tragedy. Julian, I'm sorry for your personal loss of a good friend.

Life is too short. RIP fellow bowsiter.
Prayers for strength, comfort and healing through everyone's grief. Having experienced my own loss this year, I am looking forward to solitude & peace in the hills this year to come to terms with mine. Hoping to launch an arrow over it too. Sorry to hear of it.
Julian, that's awesome sir! I may have talked with him on the phone in the past, he really sounds familiar? Do you recall him mentioning it? Thanks!

Paul, I don't recall but he wasn't bashful and used to get on the phone with folks in a heart beat. He was a game warden and loved to leverage that as a networking opportunity. I was going through all of my Topo maps the other day looking for ones from our hunts and found some of your CDs he demanded I become intimate with...lol
RIP to a fellow Bowsiter, prayers sent.
I remember his posts.
My condolences.
RIP Rhett...
Julian, thanks for the response! So he was a phone junkie too!! Ha Ha!

Very sad, Sorry to hear this! Prayers for all!
Julian, my wife was cleaning out the book case in my office the other day, and came upon a book, titled, The Old Man and the Boy. Inside was this special note, signed by Rhett, and dated 2003.
"Paul, Thanks you for all the help as I try to grow into an elk hunter!", Good Hunting, Rhett Bickley, April 2003.
Also a hand written note, Paul, I don't know if you've ever met Mr. Ruark, if not, allow me to introduce you. If you've already made his acquaintance, then just enjoy visiting again. He has a wonderful way with words and much of his low country information is dead on. Take care, Rhett
Special guy for sure, My best, Paul
Sorry to hear brother Embrace the times you were able to share with him.....
Paul, that's interesting. Rhett gave me a copy of that book not long after we first started hunting together. Thanks for sharing that.
