What is the best action camera for the $

As I am getting longer in the tooth I have realized I don't have much to leave behind. For this reason and the notion that I will have something to look back on after my hunts I have decided that I want to start filming them. What is the best action camera that is of good quality and reasonably priced($600 or less). I am not a fan of the GoPro because everything looks so far away. What are some of you using that you are satisfied with and what accessories would you recommend. Thanks for the replies.
I’m probably not the best person to answer this as I’ve not actually owned an action camera, but if you don’t like the wide angle of them, that’s typically how action cams are made so they can be strapped to your body and “capture all the action”. I think they could make great secondary cams, but you might be happier with a handheld camcorder for your first or only cam. Haven’t even really used a camera arm until this year I am planning to use one more. Camcorders are so small I just slip it back into my pocket if I think a shooting moment is about to present itself . You would need an arm though if you want to get the shot on film
Read Tactacams are decent and you pretty much only have to point the bow as it goes in the stabilizer holes. Been thinking of getting one.
One only has to watch a few of these people mounted cam vids on Youtube [head mount, bow mounted] to realize its practically unwatchable.
The good vids are done with cameras mounted on a tripod....and someone running the camera. Remy Martin does a good job solo....but he uses multiple cameras and it seems to me a lot of work that is taking away from the actual hunt experience.
I think the question is; Are you doing this for you....or for everyone else?
No right or wrong answer....but if you want these hunts memorialized properly....done well....then you need to hire a cameraman. Just my take bro....not trying to ruffle any feathers.
Beendare, You are correct and no offense taken. I'm still learning but to answer your question these will mostly be for myself and the occasional friend or family member to view.
Was just checking out the new Tactacam 5.0 and it looks like something that I am thinking of. The reviews seem to be very good. Does anyone have experience with one of these cameras? Good bad?
I would recommend contacting KEH Camera in Ga. & B&H Camera in NYC and talking with a customer service rep to "picking their brain" and seek guidance on the selection for a camera comparable for your needs.
The ultimate predator adventure cam might be worth looking into
The tactacam looks like it would be the best
