Not killed, but I have been hit in the leg several times. Don't bow fish anymore.

Bowfishing for about 15 years here. I use 200# test ......never had one snap back tying off at the back and no safety slide.....but have had many break off. I've never seen a snap back....but most of the folks I know shoot 40# plus bows

There is a guy on you tube that intentionally tries to get one with a spinner reel and a retriever style and it breaks the string every time.

I had a snap-back once and the nock stuck in my face right at the outside corner of my eye.

Not bow fishing but on my annual rabbit hunt I had a bunny sitting tight at the base of a wild rose bush, I squatted down drew(recurve about 52#s) and shot, it went right thru the bunny and bounced back!! Like Lou the nock stuck just under my right eye. I stood up and arrow was hanging there. Shawn

I had to dodge one before I knew anything about safety slides, it was my first or second practice shot ever. I thought, "Cool, look at that line spiraling away-oh sh!t!" Kinda lost interest for a few years after that ;)

Use a safety slide, never tie to the back of the arrow only. The arrow could come back with the slide but it will be sideways.

My uncle shielded himself with his forearm and took one in the forearm. Just the tip though, would never have been near enough to penetrate.

A few decades ago I read about a guy who was killed by an arrow coming back on him.
