For you folks heading to CO next week... looks like the monsoon is setting back up. What this means is that its going to be cool and rainy, possibly some snow at higher elevations. It also means unsettled swirlling wind as the little fronts come through from mid-day on.
The cool-down will be welcomed, but the wind situation can really screw up the afternoon and evening hunts as it whips back and forth.
Good packable rain gear will be your friend!

Looks like NM is going to be like that as well. Hopefully showers and not so much lightning!

The high pressure on Sunday and Monday were NOT helpful to consistent winds....quite the opposite.

Hunting in the rain sucks. But not as bad as working in it. :^)

We are under a several drought condition here, and parts of the Rio Grande National Forest has fire restrictions in place. Talk is fire restrictions will start here as well soon. Rivers and steams are at an alarming low, and we have a fire burning west of us now. Haven't had significant rain in weeks. All irrigation was shut off three weeks ago. Rivers and streams are at an alarming all time low. Elk are scattered and tough to find.
