I was surprised to see this large bull again on my cameras. I had three bulls respond to Paul's Elknut calling sequences yesterday, one was an easy shot at 10 yards but there are many bigger bulls in the area. I passed. Video link included.

Yes, he is on the decline. He was an 8x8 last year. His rack is starting to thin out.

Man what a beautiful bull. You guys that get to elk hunt are so lucky. I went once and loved every minute of it, would love to go again.....on my bucket list. The one time I went I didn't have a bull tag, and wouldn't you know I was covered up in bulls. I had a 7x7 at 20 steps for 20 minutes bugling his head off, what an experience.

Tracker, this was captured with the Browning Recon Force Platinum trailcam. I've included a video link to another clip I picked up today where bears are foraging for wild plums and seeking out very limited water. Same camera.

Beautiful Bull!! Great quality of video. Can I ask what calling sequence you were referring too?

From: CO_Bowhunter
03-Sep-18
Thanks Buyse. The calling sequence I was using was ElkNut's Slow Play sequence. The only change I made was adding a location bugle to the front end of the sequence. I had one bull run in from 250 yards a way. Two other bulls responded as well, all within 5 minutes at one setup. Had I been closer to the bulls initially, the Slow Play sequence without the location bugle would probably have worked. It was great to have multiple shot opportunities at 10 yards. I just chose not to end my season on Saturday and hold out for a more mature bull.

Which model of the Browning Recon Platinum are you liking the best?

Steve, my favorite camera is last year's model, the Browning Recon Force Extreme. The Platinum model was from the year before that. The Extreme records in 60 fps and produces much, much better footage, especially at night. The link in this post is a video I captured this summer of Barn Owls that were in the process of fledging.

I look forward to testing the newer Browning Recon Force Advantage which gives you the option of recording in 30 or 60fps.
