Ghillie Coat Question

This year I'm considering hunting whitetails from the ground with my longbow. I've killed plenty of whitetails from a stand and figured I'd try something new for a change of pace. Rather than building a ground blind and hunting from it, I'd like to try still hunting. With that in mind, here's my question. Those that have still hunted whitetails, have you used a Ghillie suit? I'm considering the "longcoat" from Rancho Safari that comes with a facemask and cap. Has anybody used this product? Is there another Ghillie suit/coat you'd prefer over it?
Thanks in advance for your help.

I use them a lot for spot and stalk hunting mule deer and elk. Have also used it hunting white tails and turkeys from the ground. They work great!
I have the RS longcoat and hat and really like it. You are invisible in one of those setups. You will need to trim out the inside and under the sleeves to prevent interference with your bow and get a long arm guard.
I also have several others from various makers but Rancho Safari is one off the best. You really don’t need the pants or gaiters with that set up. Most of the time I shoot kneeling.
Have fun!

A good Leafy Suit is a lot less trouble in thick brush while moving.
The Ghillie is great for sitting While ground hunting. We have to many things that will snag it while moving around.

I made mine. It's heavy so best for cool weather.

I walked with mine on one day and it catches every twig and pricker around. I would now carry it in and put it on when I sit.

I have the rancho coat, it's awesome. If your hunting open areas then still hunting is fine, but, if your in heavy woods you won't make it. It's a magnet and snagged on everything. A ASAT leafy suit is better for moving in the woods. If you take up a stand on the ground then by all means get a RS.

i got one of the first leafy suit when they first came out in Realtree brown. blended with the leaves on the ground great. when it wore out i couldnt find a brown one, only dark ones. settled on a ASAT leafy. got myself on my trail cam while i was in an open area, didnt think i blended too well. i still think lack of movement is still a key factor.

Eddie c , to the human eye ASAT doesn't blend like realtree, mossy oak, etc... Those camps were designed to fool the human eye, ASAT was designed to fool the animals eye. I have guys say I don't blend in with ASAT and I just tell them I'm not trying to hide from you lol.

good point. i've thrown the jacket on the ground and walked off and looked back. it did pretty good but that first all purpose brown Realtree just disappeared in those brown leaves. i really havent been out it it enough to have a strong opinion yet. my old suit shrink, or i got fat.

If you can get your hands on a Bush-Rag I would jump on it. I have one and it is light, cool and effective that is made for bowhunters.
