I'm looking to upgrade my camera, the one I have been using for a long time is a nikon coolpix. Its way outdated now and I need a new one. Im looking for something to take with me deer hunting for taking pics out of the stand, hero shots, maybe a little video. I don't want anything too bulky or super expensive. I want something that is better than a cell phone camera. I remember reading a thread a while back about this seems like the sony cameras were pretty good. I don't know much about cameras so hopefully some of you can help me out with some advice. Thanks.

I am quite happy with my Sony NEX6. It is compact and versatile.

I bought a Canon sx60 with a 65x zoom lens about a year ago and love it! It's great having a 65x zoom on a medium sized camera. I use the zoom a lot for scouting....can take pics, bring home, and field judge critters on the big screen. To top it off it takes fantastic HD video! Unfortunately it isn't waterproof so I have to be careful when it's wet out. I just returned from an Alaska trip and stored it in my pack in a dry bag.
I also have a waterproof camera (Panasonic) that works great when weather is rough. It also takes nice video. It's nice having a bomberproof, waterproof, compact camera that fits in a pocket. I've even used it for underwater fish footage.
