I had quite the hunt Wednesday night! Have been so busy today and yesterday with work I haven’t had a chance to post about it. I got off work in Wichita later than expected and headed in carrying my stand. (Yes I am wearing my medical scrubs because I forgot my camo) The wind gusts were 20 to 30 miles an hour which really helped me in this situation. I spotted this buck about 100 yards away and stalked/intercepted him at about 20 yards. My first shot struck in the front shoulder, shattering the humerus. I said terrible things to myself in my head as I watched the buck run off and slow down to disappear in thick brambles. A few minutes later I had located him bedded and stalked within 12 yards to send another arrow this time tipped with a grizzly broadhead to its mark in thick brush

How is this possible???!!! You didn't have your $2300 bow and $1500 camo on? You can't kill a nice buck without that stuff! All kidding aside awesome job and even more amazing to do it the old fashioned way. Good on ya! Great buck too!

You got it figured out. Now you just need to use what you learned and come kill a big old mule deer up here!

That is one heck of a trophy and one you will remember for a long time to come. That is very satisfying shooting a self bow. Let alone the hunt you had with it. Let’s hear the details of the bow. Looks like maybe snake skin backed? Looks too straight for a Osage stave.
