First Selfbow buck
I had quite the hunt Wednesday night! Have been so busy today and yesterday with work I haven’t had a chance to post about it. I got off work in Wichita later than expected and headed in carrying my stand. (Yes I am wearing my medical scrubs because I forgot my camo) The wind gusts were 20 to 30 miles an hour which really helped me in this situation. I spotted this buck about 100 yards away and stalked/intercepted him at about 20 yards. My first shot struck in the front shoulder, shattering the humerus. I said terrible things to myself in my head as I watched the buck run off and slow down to disappear in thick brambles. A few minutes later I had located him bedded and stalked within 12 yards to send another arrow this time tipped with a grizzly broadhead to its mark in thick brush
Congrats on the buck as well as the new camo!
Congrats!! Way to stick with it. Sounds like the odds were against You from the start, but you turned it into a successful hunt.
Nice!! Congratulations !!
That’s awesome. Congrats. Love the camo.
That's from the new Blacktail Bob line of camo. Congrats!
Stalking and successful in scrubs that’s pretty badass! Congrats!
How is this possible???!!! You didn't have your $2300 bow and $1500 camo on? You can't kill a nice buck without that stuff! All kidding aside awesome job and even more amazing to do it the old fashioned way. Good on ya! Great buck too!
Done up right, for sure. Killing a whitetail on the ground spot and stalk is as badass as it gets, brother.
With a self bow and in scrubs! Wow! Impressive as hell!
You got it figured out. Now you just need to use what you learned and come kill a big old mule deer up here!
So happy for you!
Great Buck.Blue scrubs, thats really good because of the way deer see the color spectrum.
WOW....very impressive. Tell everyone those are special "anti- microbial scrubs" that hide your scent...you`ll see 50 guys wearing them next year.
Awesome. You got to feel as sense of pride when it all comes together like that. Congrats.
Good for you! Follow up shots are critical to closing the deal sometimes and you did well! C
That is one heck of a trophy and one you will remember for a long time to come. That is very satisfying shooting a self bow. Let alone the hunt you had with it. Let’s hear the details of the bow. Looks like maybe snake skin backed? Looks too straight for a Osage stave.
Great job, congratulations.
Sweet success! Congratulations
Pretty cool bud, congrats!
Happy for you Mike! Nice deer and story... oh and nice threads. :0)
As good as it gets.
Congrats! Selfbows are so cool.

Great job! I got a name for the buck...
The SCRUB BUCK! Lol! He's an awesome deer! Great way to baptise your new bow!

Paul yes season is over in Kansas on bucks at least but the Oklahoma bucks better watch out! Rick, Russel Yott made my bow. He does a great job
Congratulations... good work. At least you were properly attired for the field dressing.
Awesome job! Give us the details on that bow--looks very cool and maybe Osage?
Congrats and agree with Big-Al; share details & pics of your bow, as it's a huge part of your personal satisfaction in this most successful hunt.
Great job Michael ! You can enter him in the Scrub and Stethoscope club. Probably be no. 1 :-)
Very impressive! Congrats :)
