Hope the link comes through.
Definitely worth the time to watch some of our bow hunting history with Papa Bear...
I saw that last week on the Leatherwall. Fred had balls no doubt about it.
Papa Bear was the MAN!!!
Papa had to be pretty confident in his shooting to be able to whistle at a Grizzly bear and then shoot him, I'll say he was THE man.
Big x2. Some cahones to whistle at a grizz at 20 yards or so.
Papa bear was fearless!
Thanks, I enjoyed that ! I saw him kill either a grizzly or a brown bear on American Sportsman when I was a kid. I had met him when I was twelve years old at the Dallas Sports Show and he was as nice as could be.
That arrow got some damn good penetration. The exit side of the arrow was sticking out like the prop in deliverance. Their old school hunts on the little delta were legendary.
Love the dubbed over "bear sounds." Great vintage footage.
If you go to the bear archery website and click on field notes you can listen to fred's field notes in podcast form.

Absolute marketing genius!
He sure went on some great hunts. This kid was awe struck when I got to spend some time with him in my dads living room. ICON!
grubby - I have the DVD set of all his hunts... Thanks for link to his "Field Notes", I'd read the book years ago, but nice to have audible link... Thanks...
that was awesome thanks for sharing
Great video. Also good to hear Curt Gowdy’s voice. American Sportsman was my absolute favorite when I was a kid.

I love the intro where Fred Bear is shooting arrows into a tree while his guide is standing right there beside the tree!!!
If you guys dig that, get the complete DVD set with all his films on it. $30 most places, very cool old footage.
