Lots of stories , like the time the mountain slid down west lost creek and we were there, or the time my horse ran through a rock slide when it was moving, or the time we rode up a goat trail, or when moose came through our camp, or when we had run away horses, or many other fun experiences plus the 8 or 9 elk we have killed

My first 2 years hunting Colorado..1981-82...archery elk solo hunt, left the wife/child in a motorhome in Creede and backpacked up to Snowshoe Mtn. there above Deep Creek..set up tent and hunted back toward Seven Parks...hooked ever since...moved to the West Elks as #76 became a draw area...never been back in the unit since '82...hunted Powderhorn Primitove area one archery season, '93 I think..

Familiar stories. Like the time we were at headwaters of Tx Creek and horses got loose and went back down to trailhead of fern creek, or the time we were over by squaw creek and horses ran off and had to carry saddles back down mountain on a summer fishing trip. Lots of good times before and after unit was a draw. Packing out Elk in the moonlight on the continental divide and catching our limit of rainbows and cooking on the shore of a high mountain lake. Priceless.

Hunted it in 2015 - beautiful place! Would love to go back someday, but probably won’t happen.

Watch out for the old gal who runs the hot dog stand in Creede, she may have a screw loose...

I know people who hunted it every year before it was draw. I have friends who know every single road in the unit. Great fun if you can get in it today. One of my hunting partners killed a real nice one there a few weeks ago.

Best cheeseburger I ever had was cooked by those older lady's at the gas station close to where the road turns of to the reservoir and Lost Creek trail head.

I stopped at Freeman's also. Nothing like a big burger and ice cream after living off of Mountain House for a week.
