My daughter took this 12 pointer last night in Minnesota. I hunted 45 years and never taken a buck over 100" and she does this at the ripe old age of 25!

I watched it all from my tree stand about 200 yards away. After the shot the deer ran towards me and I heard it crash. BBD! I called her and told her the deer was down. I didn't need my phone anymore, I could hear her screaming from my stand! It took me a few minutes to stop shaking enough so I could safely get down from my stand. High fives and hugs for hours afterwards. I got more enjoyment watching her shoot it than I ever could have shooting it myself.

Congrats to her & you for teaching your kids to hunt. The year I got my archery moose, a week later my daughter shot her first deer, a doe with a rifle. Way more excited at that than the moose I got or any other animal I hunted.

Great job dad. Just curious on your daughters hunting progression. It seems like most dads can get their daughters involved in hunting at 13 and keep them interested for a few years but it seems like school, sports, boys, etc, etc pull them away at a higher percentage than boys. Has your daughter hunted consistently or is this a fairly new endeavor for her?

Fastflight My daughter started hunting when she was 15. Her first few years were with a single shot 410. She never did shoot a deer with it but her and I had some absolutely amazing conversations sitting on an old log in the woods watching the sun rise and set. She finally picked up a bow 5 years ago. Got her first doe 3 years ago. I hadn't hunted with her for the last 2 because the landowner and I were just getting to know each other. This year I felt comfortable enough with him to ask if she could hunt also and he gave her permission also. My wife and I are empty nesters, so any chance I can get to spend with them is treasured. She is an RN working at the local VA hospital caring for our vets so it's been hard to get our schedules to match up. But this week we had a couple of days that matched up. We saw deer every sit and the experiences we shared are golden. The events that unfolded that night would make some of the hardcore hunters on this site heads explode, but it made it that much more memorable for our family. It was a dream of mine for her and I to go on a guided hunt after trophy bucks. She took care of that...………….

It's easy to tell how much this meant to you. All of us dads live for experiences like yours. Sometimes its hunting and sometimes its sitting at a daddy daughter dance but they are all special. Congrats to you and your daughter.
