The 2019 Hoyt thread was fun. Let's have some fun with Bowtech.
It’s hard to argue with the innovations bowtech has put into their bows. Dual yokes, comfort/performance settings, rotating draw length mods, etc.
Bowtech is not afraid to innovate thats for sure. Hopefully a couple years of no substantial limb failures can bring some guys back into the fold. I have no trust in them at this point so it maybe awhile for me.
I am looking forward to bowtechs release. Unfortunately their 2018 bows are still Leaps and bounds ahead of Hoyt’s 2019. Coming from a Hoyt fan, not hater.
Browning had rotating modules in 1987.
I have an Assassin that is several years old. Thoroughly impressed with its killing power compared to my old Mathew Z7.
Hoyt did rotating modules on their No Cam 2003? I had a Browning in 1999 ish on which the cable slide flexed a lot; just like some of the newer bows nowadays. There's nothing new under the sun. Just minor tweaks.
The twin split yokes was truly a game changer for tunability. Love my Bowtechs. Bought my last one, a NIB Experience for $460 on eBay. Blew a limb on it this past summer. Replaced by Bowtech at no cost.
The sad thing about flexing cable rods they are not needed . Back in the Stone Age we used the cable rod to increase or decrease tension on cables to get the bow to shot a bullet hole though paper . Much quicker and simpler than yoke , spacer or all these other methods you have to use today because they took that option away with all these fancy cable slides.
If someone like one like obessession wants to really make it easy to tune there cam system out a stiff micro adjust cable slide on there bows and do away with that time consuming spacer tunning . You could get the left and right out of there bows in no time with that and it would shoot lights out . And guess what “ simple “ .
It is apparent once again I need to proof read before posting. But I think you can understand what I said .??
I understood. You can also go back and edit - I find myself doing that often.
So in the Stone Age most cable guards were offset and could rotate. Are you saying you'd rotate the rod to change tension on the cables for tuning? Never heard of doing that but sounds reasonable and pretty slick idea.
Yes that is exactly what I did . Set bow up straight down middle and level with cams in time . Tension the cable guard enough for fletching clearance . Shoot a bare shaft though paper and get up and down tear out with rest first then if it was left tear put more tension on cables till it shot a bullet hole . Some of the best shooting bows I have had I tuned this way . I would take great pains to get arrow as dead on Center shot as I could get it and not move it left or right again .
This was before split limbs . I am not sure I ever tuned a split limb bow this way but I am sure it would work .
Some of the cable guards designed made it harder to be precise so I bought this after market Rod i . For the life of me I can not not think of the name of it . I would keep it and put old rod back on when I got a new bow . A good design with micro marks on it would be the berries on these systems without yokes I would think . I think I still have it on my old turkey bow in my man cave .
I don't think anyone care enough about BT to get the thread to 230 like hoyt.
get serious.
I did not mean to high jack it .
Rumor has it that bowtech and obsession are about ready to shit the bed financially. I dont find that hard to believe at all. Honestly I am amazed at how so bow manufactures are even in business in this market.
I would think cross bows has killed them .
I seriously hope that is not the truth about Bowtech going under financially! If so, I will be shooting my Prodigy even longer than I thought! FWIW, The Hoyt bows I shot before buying my Prodigy didn't even come close for me - but to each his own. Pete
I agree patience! Definitely would be sad to see Bowtech go under! If it’s true I suspect the several years of limb issues may have caught up to them. Now that they have that issue figured out hopefully they can regain the trust of the public and sell some bows because the new Realm I just bought shoots lights out compared to the rest. Trust me I shot them all with an open mind never having an allegiance to any brand before hand. I was shooting a Bear bow for years which was fine but was definitely time for an upgrade. I never did shoot Obsession which would have been next if I wasn’t totally sold on the Bowtech.
Got my hands on the Hoyts yesterday. The RX-3 and the Helix feel very close to the same weight when holding them. I was less than impressed by the RX and put it down quickly. The Helix looks very close to the Triax. It holds more vertical in the hand than the Triax. It’s not as top heavy. It is not as quiet or vibration free as the Triax. They may be the quietest, least vibration bow Hoyt has ever made. But they aren’t the quietest, vibration free made by others. Even with rubber blobs plastered all over them. I would say the Helix will sell well. At $1000 less than the RX. It’s a great looking bow. That’s why Mathews designed it 2 years ago. The RX-3 is a mess. Stuff going off at 20 different angles. Stuff sticking out everywhere. Wasn’t impressed with them last year and have not changed my opinion this year. Looking forward to the Bowtech and Mathews release.
I'm with Patience. My Prodigy shoots my fixed BH same as my FP. Never had a bow shoot so smooth, quiet, and accurate. Would really hate to see them go. Been shooting Bowtech ever since they came out with the Guardian.
Would be a big loss if bowtech went under, they do make the best most tune-able bows on the market
I’ve shot/owned a lot of bows through the years and find Bowtech to be about the best I’ve had. Hate to hear they are struggling....is it true...IDK. Of all the bows I’ve owned myBowtech Experience imo tops all the Mathews and Hoyt’s I’ve ever owned ! I can’t ever see a reason to ever sell it.
The Bowtech rumors have been around for years; they're not going anywhere.
I am with WapitiBob on the rumours. I hear that every year and every year Bowtech is still there.
Who tells you this information? What makes them credible?
And I am not a Bowtech fanboy. I shoot Hoyt.
Usually the financial state of a company is not public info. Usually very few on the inside even know. I’d be skeptical of that rumour at best
Those limb issues are so in the past, I’m surprised they even got mentioned.
I’ve got > 20,000 shots on my Invasion’s original limbs and it still shoots lights out and holds proper draw weight.
The only reason I’m looking at new bows is that I want a carbon bow.
Been my experience Bowtech rumors are started at Mathews shops....... =D
The twin yoke systems are a tuning dream and it sure is nice to adjust draw length with out ordering/changing out modules or sometimes entire cams, string/cable sets. Great performance helps too.
Two years isn't that long ago; and when they blow up in the box, on the rack, or sitting in the back seat while you drive home from the factory where it was just bought, the issue is a serious one. It does appear those issues are behind them but other than Martin, I can't think of any mfg that has had that degree of failure. Last years bows were pretty good from what I hear and the 2019's look good.
A buddy has an older Bowtech that started to sliver and he was told to sand it out. The limb shatter while shooting it.
Bowtech said there’s nothing they can do as there are no limbs available for it and never will be. And there is no alternative restitution. And buying used limbs is probably good money after bad. Too bad as it was a nice shooting bow.
Bowtech seemed to peek early in their history with some very good innovation, then kind of stalled. Then the limb issue sucked up some resources, which further curtailed advances.
Too bad, cause they really seemed to hit the 12 ring in the beginning.
Not sure what model bow you're buddy has but Barnsdale makes limbs for some of the older one piece limbs and is apparently coming out with split limbs for the Invasion, Insanity, RPM, etc. at some point ("soon" is what they say....) If he still has the bow he might check into it.
My Experience last summer...
It's that hamskea...
The other side gets jealous.
I'm still shooting a Guardian, if they come out with something significantly better for me I will probably get it but it hasn't happened so far.
Been a fan for many years and looking forward to see this year’s release. I started out with a Patriot, followed by an Equalizer, 82nd Airborne, 350 Destroyer, and my current BTX-28. I’ve had zero issues with any of them, and have only one complaint. I just wish they’d come out with a 55-65# option like most other manufacturers.
Has anyone here ever owned a Bowtech Fuel? I won a Fuel at a banquet and I gave it to my grandson, I never did shoot it. He really likes it and said that it shoots fantastically well. Has taken some nice bucks with it too.
Midwest......my son got 20 shots out of his Prodigy before it did looked liked yours.
Skull, what are the stats on the SR6
Bob, they send you two at a time now in case one blows up? lol
LOL Nick!!! I love my Bowtech and am not brand loyal. Since the Reign the limb issues have been resolved from what I understand. Great bows, as are many out there. Hope they stick around.
Altitude Sick, had a hard time reading it myself so i looked it up. 352 IBO, 32” ATA, 6” BH, 4.3 #
Altitude Sick SR6 stats are ATA 32 BH 6” IBO 352 I love my reing7
Where are u getting the numbers from.
I’m not sure if I understand you Is this a better picture
What I find utterly and completely baffling is how did #1-such monumentally serious errors in quality control of their product ever occur and #2-That products that contained components with this level of catastrophic failure ever made it out of the plant and into retail sales to the public? I am presently in collage to obtain a hybrid electrical engineering degree that also has a great deal of emphasis on manufacturing. The manufacturing part of my degree included a great deal of instruction on quality control and the often very complex methods of insuring a company produces products with as high a level of quality control as financially possible. My point being with todays manufacturing quality control methods I simply can not understand how Bowtech allowed this to happen. Especially considering a compound bow is comparatively speaking not that difficult or complicated to produce given todays level of manufacturing quality control sophistication combined with most of a compound bows components are made with a process of entirely automated manufacturing virtually devoid of human input beyond programing a CNC machine. Am I correct in saying this was a case of using flawed or inferior component failure and not a failing in the assembly of components?
For those that are saying that BT's QC, specific to limb failures are behind them....is there data/proof to back this up, other than one or 2 shooters claiming to be certain? Limb breakage was obviously a widespread issue. How has the co. publicly addressed and owned the fix?
"Bob, they send you two at a time now in case one blows up? lol"
"clandestine" picture opportunity, not my bows.
Diagnosing limb failures isn't real easy when you control every step, and it's a whole lot harder when they come to you in a cardboard box ready for paint. The number of companies using laminated limbs are now single digits and for good reason. Bowtech is now making them in house, where they can control the process and make changes as needed. That wasn't the case prior, they were coming from an outside company. I heard they are/were using some aerospace guys to help them get stuff dialed in. That's the route Jennings took when they had problems and we used that info at Golden Eagle as well.
Bob, do you know if they are making the replacement limbs in house for their bows that were previously outsourced? Such as my Experience?
I've owned 9 Bowtechs over the years, 3 Invasions, 2 Specialists, and 4 Experiences. For those that don't already know, these bows all had the twin yokes, which made them the most tuneable bows on the market. The the early Invasions and Specialists had issues with the finish flaking off along the edges of the limbs. I have a newer Invasion that doesn't have this issue. Other than that, I haven't had any issues with the limbs. I haven't seen any limb failures. Currently, I have a 70# Invasion, two 70# Experiences, and one 60# Experience. All the limbs are in perfect condition. They are the most tuneable, and best shooting bows I have ever owned. BTW I shot Hoyts for 10 years.
I’ve had a Bowtech Exsperience since the year they first came out and never have had any problems with it. I shot Mathews bows since the year the MQ1 came out had some really good bows but this bow now is IMHO the best bow I’ve ever owned.
"The Bowtech rumors have been around for years; they're not going anywhere. "
But, but, but..... I read it on the Internet!
Build me the best bow and I will buy it . I’m not loyal to anyone . So far there’s no better bow than raign7 in my opinion.
Can't wait to shoot the SR6
DMT .... Sorry I couldn't help but chuckle a bit when i read this "I am presently in collage to obtain a hybrid electrical engineering degree" ...please stay in college for a while haha!
Limbs are one of the more difficult parts within the system to manufacture consistently and reliably, partly due to manufacturing methods, and partly due to the nature of the materials involved. The best glass supplier and blank making company in the business is still learning and improving everyday. Good things are coming in that portion of the industry.
Also what you're seeing in this thread for new models.... you can be sure that isn't all. Bowtech probably has something nice up their sleeve. They have always provided innovation in an industry where it is becoming increasingly more difficult to do. I'd stay tuned... because I think you'll see something ground breaking from them this year. Not fluff like some of the other companies are marketing.
One more thing to ACB.... have you seen the LTR cable guard Elite bows use? That's a stiff tuneable roller guard. Already patented as well!
No I have not seen it , I will take a look .
I should have work on patent in the 80’s when I thought it would be a good idea. I also think it would be a great fit for Elite Bows
I owned Bowtech Prodigy. I love it.
anyone get there hands on the sr6 yet on performance?
I am hearing rave reviews on the SR6. I have held it but have yet to shoot it. Hopefully this weekend. I currently shoot a Realm and love that bow. Have been shooting Bowtech since the Prodigy and have had no issues. Really nice bows.
What is the new game changing innovation?
What is the new game changing innovation?
Their limbs won't blow up!
He He He He ;)
I like the looks of the SR6... I've had no issues with my 82nd, the Guardian prior,or the Mighty Mite. I did have an Ally that had a limb start to splinter which had to be replaced, BT did it fast... That said, I think 19 is the year I get some sort of new rig, just a grass is greener sort of thing, ready for a change.
Trad guy here but shared moose camp with a couple of Realms. Pretty impressive bow for many reasons. Kinda makes me want one. Don’t think with that kind of tunability and technology that Bowtech is going anywhere soon.
The SR6 is HOT... It is a mild draw cycle for a speed bow, and it is exceeding it's IBO across the board. The word is good on the SR. The SS confuses me a bit. Couldn't you just shoot your Realm or Realm X in comfort setting and achieve a smooth draw with near identical performance? Not to sure on that one. There are at least 2 more to come from Bowtech at the ATA. (I believe at least one of them is on the target side though)
