Need a new set of strings and cables for my PSE Decree. It has the factory original ones which I believe are America’s Best Bowstrings. I have no complaints with this set but they are getting worn and need replaced this winter. A new set from ABB run about $180. I’m not opposed to that but would like to know what other options I have? Would like a set to last me 3 again.

Twisted X bowstrings, best I’ve used!
180 for strings?!
60x, JBK, hogwire, catfish custom. Lots of good ones on Archerytalk. I’m looking for a set too, hoping for some good Black Friday sales.
I’m running 60x. Gr at quality service and value. 180 for a set is silly
That’s what I though when I saw the price!!
Archeryshack.com builds all of mine. Great strings, well priced.
What about the original Hoyt strings? Anybody change those? The bow shop I go to says no reason to not stay with the Hoyt string.
60X or Winner's Choice have worked very well for me.
I will be needing a set also for my carbon air. We have made our own in the past but think I may try a set of 60x. Anyone have good results with them?
Jbk is having a sale right now. I think I’m going that direction pending a couple of questions I sent him. Every set of strings I’ve ever had have had serving separation. Jbk has a 2 year warranty.
180 is a freaking Rip off. They aren't worth half that
Whocares, over the past few years the stock Hoyt cabling has been excellent on the bows I've had.
Got a set for my bowtech experience from archery shack for under $50 so far they great, bcy mercury was the string material on sale. I've had great luck with 60x as well, probably bought 10 sets from them
You want to talk to Jeff over at JBK strings and you will never look back. Hands down the best strings and service in the industry. 207-212-1421
John,( Brethern on AT) Tom Parks (EX wolverine on AT ) Bart Shortall ( Xfire bowstrings) Hutch ( Bowstring Depot) You cant go wrong with any of these guys, they are all top notch builders and fairly priced.
I've used 60x and JBK. Personally, I liked the 60x strings the best. Was just a "cleaner" looking job in my opinion. Both strings performed just fine with no peep rotation.
Tom Parkinson (ex-wolverine on AT). Been using his strings for the last 10 Year’s. He’s the best in my eyes. Send him your bow and it’ll be tuned to the max. I knew as soon as I met him that he was as serious about quality and being precise as I am.
Honestly, these days, there’s tons of people making strings.... pick one with great reviews and I bet you’ll be fine.

Nick, Im not sure how someone else can tune your bow without you being there? Unless you have zero hand torque or the exactly the same hand torque?
I have no complaints on 60x. I've bought 3 sets from them and going to order another this weekend, 25% off custom sets, 30% prebuilt through Sunday! They do great work and I haven't had to test their customer service/warranty. JBK look good but I haven't installed mine yet. I've used vapor trail and winners choice in the past but there's 6 Hoyt's in our garage so I don't want the mess with junk strings! Nobody got time for Dat Lol.
Excellent quality and service from 60x. Just ordered to take advantage of the sale.
I ma VERY detail oriented, and I demand high end service. I have never seen another company that fills those two requirements better than Jeff over at JBK. Not to mention he stays on top of the new materials and is constantly evolving so he can use any material you want, and do it correctly. Call him and you will never look back. (get the Rampage)

Elkman, I think your constant pimping of gear has a negative effect.
I have NO affiliation with JBK. Just a satisfied customer. Great people
Twisted X. The Hoyt factory strings are hit and miss. Sometimes get a good one. Other times not. I’ve tried a lot and twisted x is the best I’ve used
Hoyt factory stringshave been more Than sufficient for the past 15-20 years.
Another completely satisfied Vaportrail customer here. Last two sets of strings ad cables on my LX, and will soon be ordering another set.
60X and the service is top notch.
Thanks for all the feedback here. I hate to say it but I usually dont keep a bow long enough to need new strings....but this bow has really grown on me and I'm trying to use my money a little more wisely so hanging onto it for a while. Lots of choices to sort through....any suggestions as far as string material type? the last string I ordered about 10 years ago I just told the shop what I wanted and got vaportrail strings. now when I look at these websites there are multiple options for string material. what do I need to know?

"I ma VERY detail oriented"
I can see that, ELKMAN! lol..
Bcy X for me or the new version X99
Hard to beat Vapor Trail in my experience been shooting them for years

Vapor trail for me. Great strings and fast service.
Vapor Trail has treated me well for 8 or 10 transactions. Always precise and very quick turnaround. Don't believe I've waited beyond a week for any order.
Bart shortall with xfire bowstrings
Bought an RX7 about 6 months ago. String started coming apart. Warranty only good for 30 days. Dealer had only hoyt strings. Bought a set for $130. 6 days later serving comes loose and heat shrink is sliding. just sayin. Never again
Last set I bought was from ABB. Absolutely rock solid.
Also bought America's Best last year and I really like them. Their website that allows you to customize the colors is very user friendly.
America’s Best is as solid as you can get. I love them. They twist their strings the opposite of most companies…..so if you are into nock tuning and fletching the way the arrow comes off your bow, just take note. They are excellent.
I’ve used 60x and was not impressed at all.
Vaportrail has been very hit or miss with quality.
I’ve heard a lot about Catfish, I bought a string, just the string and so far impressed.
A guy on Archery talk that goes by Breathn, has a biz called John’s Customs. If you’re willing to wait a little longer than some of these others his strings have been by far the best quality. I’ve ordered sets for different bows and they’ve all been perfect.
America’s Best Bowstrings. Haven’t had any stretch with them. There’s a reason why they’re called the best!
