Stealth cam issue

I have been experiencing with some trail cameras. I purchased a stealth camera px18, and have not had much luck with the photos it is taking during low light or dark conditions. I have many photos after hours that have no images on them.

Curious if anyone else has had this problem? If it's owner malfunction, something I need to adjust on the settings, or if the infrared needs to be cleaned?

I was thinking it could possibly be animals are extremely close to the camera and it's picking up their movement, but they are not in the picture. However I have some photos of some animals that are near the camera and should be good quality pictures but are not.
