We have several groups of does that visit and try to raid the bird feeders, they hit about once a week. This morning one group had a 3 x 3 with them first buck I have seen all year.

This afternoon, watched a button buck sniff and get kicked in the face, twice. So I am guessing that the rut has started, or is about to start.

Terry, I have found that the good rut in southern AZ is some where from the second week to the end of the month of January. May start earlier farther north. My experience from hunting Coues 9 times during the last 15 years. I will be in AZ for the January deer bow season. Paul

These are mule deer. I am live in the Christopher Creek area. We do have Coues in area, but mostly mule deer.

I really want to try mule deer out there in January. Sounds like a fun hunt

"watched a button buck sniff and get kicked in the face, twice" sounds like you were at the local bar. (That was too good a straight line to pass up.)
