Would you shoot this deer?
Whitetail Deer

I’ve always wanted to shoot a piebald deer and when this one showed up I got a little excited...till I looked closer and she kinda freaked me out...I have no problem shooting a white deer black deer or what ever color... my point is about the evil looking face
haha! Joker Scary!
Shug, so....did you overcome your fear or not?:)

I got to say that thing is awesome! I would only shoot it if I was prepared to have it mounted or a rug made. Otherwise I would just enjoy seeing it from time to time.
I have but not that much white. That things wicked!
NO.. That thing looks like it will come back to haunt you!
I would have to think long an hard about taking that unusual animal. Are there any examples of her passing on those traits via giving birth? Does she associate well with the other deer in the area or is she an outcast? In my mind only a full body mount would provide the honor she deserves as such a rare example of the species. Which brings up the question. Where would she be displayed?
Happy hunting and keep us posted on your decision.
that face might be what is keeping her alive. creepy looking.
Good luck... and don't miss. :)
Saw a picture of a fully mature 8 point buck last month in Kansas. Personally I would not.
It depends on the situation. If you pass her, will someone else shoot her? I would get more enjoyment not shooting her and wondering if i would see her while bowhunting. We had a 3 legged doe that we passed for 4 years on a place, and she always had 1 fawn. A car finally took her out, and i always wondered if that was how she lost her leg in the first place. I would pass
not a doe, if it was a big buck i'm color blind.
As others have said, I might shoot her if I was prepared to do a full body mount. If I was just wanting her for a trophy picture I’d settle for seeing how many pictures of her I could get.
For the record... I wouldn’t have a problem shooting it if that damm face wasn’t so spooky...
No I would hope it moved on and didn't know I was there. With a face like that I bet it's undead and my arrow would just piss it off.
Some see a beautiful deer... I see John Wayne Gacy
Not unless i was going to mount it. Otherwise i would consider it a waste. I would rather see it from time to time.
I long for the days when deer are judged by the taste of their meat and not the color of their hair. Brown deer lives matter.
I have hunted whitetails for 57 years with a bow and have only seen two deer marked thisc way. They are such a treat to see I would never draw on one unless I needed the meat to survive on! Let her walk so others can enjoy such a unique animal!
Probably not. Especially with the house in the background.
In all seriousness I think that deer would be more fun to encounter time and time again than the 50# of meat I'd get out of it. Probably give it a pass and shoot a "normal" doe instead..
nope, house is in the background. unsafe
If she was in Iowa, no. (not legal here). Another state, it would be a game time decision. Crazy looking deer for sure!

That's why I WOULD shoot it.(if it wandered into my hunting area) If people want to see it they could come to my house. ;-)
Toiled with this question this year. First one I saw was a doe several years ago and no I didn't shoot, have it to do again, I would shoot. I did see her several more times over a 3-4 year period, but not in a shoot or don't shoot situation.
Second was this fall. There was rumor and pictures of a 4x4 on my place that was piebald. I made the determination this time I would shoot. The neighbor kept describing him to me in detail. He saw him twice while parked at my gate rolling cigarettes (not sure why he parks there to smoke). Many hours logged hunting and hiking in the area and still have never seen him. Thus I would enjoy his hide and antlers on my wall much more than seeing him afoot.
Soon as photoed doe movers to a legal safe shooting area I would zip one at her.

Assuming there is no issue with population numbers and I have a tag, I shoot any mature doe.
Why does a deer with an odd color deserve more respect than any other deer? That thinking is for Disney movies.
Same as the people that say it's disrespectful to shoot a deer from long range with a rifle. A deer doesn't care it it's killed with your bare hands, a long bow at 8 yards, a compound at 30 yards, a rifle at 800 yards, a car at 50 mph..... Dead is dead.
Not legal in Iowa for no biological reason. Stupid.
I have agree with Skookumjit....
Unless I were hunting on a Rez and the local religion held them in special regard such that it would be breaking some kind of taboo.
Just as a matter of respect.
OH YEAH, but I'd probably miss. Cool markings on her.
food for thought.....someone else probably will take that life anyway......
I would shoot it, and then keep shooting it until I was out of arrows. Then I would burn it while performing some type of exorcism over it. That thing is spooky AF!
No, it's a "quartering to" shot.
No. I have spoken to some who had bad luck following them after killing it. They say it's a spirit that is trying to pass to the after world I believe.
I'd be sending an arrow. Not sure why someone would say not to because they are rare... So are 200 inch bucks... I dont think anybody is going to pass a 200 incher for future viewing pleasure and tag a "normal" buck instead
I'd shoot it and, then I'd tan the hide to stretch on my wall. Might end up cutting the head off though if it looked to bad.
No - in fact, I passed one that was a bit whiter about 2.5 weeks ago here. I had just bumped a doe about 150 yds from the place where I'd parked. I go another 50yds or so, and catch something totally out of place to my right. My brain couldn't compute what I was looking at. I literally thought: "is that a small pony? Great dane? What the hell..." Then my brain finally accepted I was looking at a mostly white pie bald. First Ive ever seen. I was just legal from the house, and nocked an arrow as he walked behind a big oak. He was walking away, so I grunted. He stopped. I grunt again, and he starts to walk perpendicular. Goes behind some scrubby pines and I drew. Steps out onto the grassy lane I was on, flat , broadside, wide open and he just stopped looking my way. I'm at full draw, thinking: "He's crazy looking. It feels like a dang farm animal and not a deer. I dont think I can shoot him. He's so damn unique! What a wild looking animal. I cant do it. He's to cool! Just hope he makes it through shot gun." Then he starts to walk into some pines. I watched him for a while longer, but despite having been at full draw, I just couldnt shoot him. He was so crazy and wild looking. Totally messed with my mind!
Absolutely amazing deer to see. Oh, the one I saw was a small buck, probably a 1.5YO.
For the record I won’t know till I’m given the opportunity... if I don’t it won’t be because of some bad mojo or it’s pretty... maybe it’s because I saw 130” buck in the same block yesterday... l
Yes, why not? Unless it's illegal I don't see why you wouldn't. A great hide to have tanned and mount. I don't see why stares like Illinois and others make it illegal to take albinos, it a defect so take them out.
No. I'd rather have more chances of seeing it again or someone else getting to see it alive.
Have white deer, albino, chocolate colored, pie bald, all around our house and area. probably around a dozen. Few people shoot them. Had 170-180" few years back, died of old age. If he had presented a shot and been legal yes. This one was in my yard 4-15-18. Had a spike, 8, and doe in our yard all summer.
No, I've had chances. Would rather get the chance to see them. She finally died of old age.
No way, those animals bring too much value to the species with conversation and respect by the hunting and non hunting neutral public.
Probably not any piebald, too unique, I don't even think it's legal to shoot white or partly white deer in NY.
Trapper.. I could be wrong but I believe all deer are partly white...
imagine your sitting in the woods, lights fading and you hear noise so you look left and that's peeking around a tree at you from 100 yrds.....I think it would startle the hell outta me hahahaha creepy look n deer
Have to say ... had it at 25 yards today and realized it’s a 6 month old deer so I didn’t even pick up my bow...
"Trapper.. I could be wrong but I believe all deer are partly white... " Why, shame on me, I should know that, how could I not know, I'm partly white...
