Trying to figure out how to get a ballpark measurement on my November buck. First, how do you score split G2s and is the next forward point the G3 or main beam? I'll throw some pics in and you can tell me how it's supposed to be scored. I know nothing is firm, just trying to score the right side primarily.

A few more...

If the next point in the cluster of trash is in fact the G3, where do you measure from?

Rick you would measure the split off the G2 similar to how you would measure the G2, G3 ect off the main beam. It is hard to explain in text. See the attached form P&Y there are pics on top of form. Better yet you can find some good you tube videos showing how to do it.

Holy smokes thats a dandy! Congrats! This should help you as far as the G2. Look at E.

Your G3 will be measured as your last "ruler pic" shows....then use the "brow point" example in Destroyers pic to score the addition point off the G3.

06-Dec-18
Franklin... thanks. I was curious to that. That should add more gross and more indifference between the G3s.

John, Matt... that's how I was measuring it. Thank you guys for the confirmation.

06-Dec-18
I came up with 156.5 total antler. 138.125 gross typical, with 18.375 xtra points, -5.125 in indifferences. Making 114.625 net typical. Now, here's where I'm not 100% sure... for NT don't you add total inches and then deduct indiffernces? How does that work? If that's the case, he will be 151.375 net non-typical.

NT score is the net typical score plus abnormals.

Any scorer's in your area?

That is a very cool buck!

06-Dec-18
Would love to see harvest pics of that buck; what a stud. Congrats!

06-Dec-18
Apauls... then that would be... 138.125 (gross typ) - 5.125 (indifferences) = 133 net + 18.375 (abnormal points) = 151.375 non-typical. Correct?

Greg, there are a few. I'll be seeing them soon enough. I'm just having fun learning to score an odd buck.

“Making 114.625” net typical.”

Kelly Harris would be proud, Rick!

Lol! Troy, that buck doesn't deserve it.

Put all your measurement into this and you should come out with the net NT score

that is one hell of a deer. lose the ruler and enjoy that thing. neat animal

06-Dec-18
Thanks, John. I did it correct. It came up to 151.375 net non-typical. Won't quite make 155 minimum. But I'm totally fine with it. ;)

Cmon Rick you’re just looking for excuses to post more pics of that beautiful deer. And I thank you for it:)

Oh and fwiw I’ve always thought hitting the NonTyp min is a lot harder than typical. I’d shoot that deer 100x faster than a net 125 typ. Congrats again

06-Dec-18
When you have over 15 inches of abnormal points on a Whitetail it puts it in the NT category. 155 is the minimum for NT.

06-Dec-18
Bou... thank man. I'm just curious of the NT score, since I've never scored one. Not the end all, for sure. :)

M.Pauls... You know it! This deer has me crazy! Lol

Thanks Charlie!

Hell I'd still get that deer scored after 60 days. There is enough weird stuff going on with that deer you could be off. He could make it either as a typical or non typical if you did anything wrong.

I think you can still go typical with more than 15'' of abnormal but can't go NT if it has less than 15''

That's a stud buck, Rick! With non-typical whitetails there is always a chance that something is being measured incorrectly or interpreted differently by you.....I see it happen often even at panel. It's way too close to NOT have it officially measured after it dries for 60 days. Find a measurer and get'er done! If not, bring it to the convention and I'll measure it for you!

Thanks fellas! Ed... you're right, I might have interpreted something incorrectly. I'll have it scored in January to see. Appreciate all of the advice from everyone.
