When I hunted the Bob in the 70's, the accepted philosophy of the locals was if you had a rifle and a backhoe you didn't have a predator problem, referring to griz. Kind of radical huh? The realistic thing to do would be to delist wolves since as a species, they aren't endangered. Using the wolf advocates slant, we should dump money in guaranteeing the reestablishment of the caribou that were recently declared extinct in the Idaho, Montana mountains. IMO

Joe Balyeat is a good guy. I worked with him in helping to legalize blood trailing dogs in Montana.

He should focus more attention to the fact that montanas elk population objectives are more effected by an elk management written by politicians, farmers and ranchers than predators. As a former legislator he should be well aware of the issues.
