Damaged loper euro
Pronghorn

So my Cali antelope European skull fell and shattered the skull pretty bad. Was wondering if anyone has seen any diy (fake) euro skulls online before or if anyone has any ideas how to preserve my horns and skull?.....
Perhaps just put your horns on another skull? Seems like it would be nearly identical. Should be easy enough to source a skull.
Check out “Mountain Mikes Reproductions”. Mostly used for deer but it’s pretty similar. They have two versions one where you individually attach the horns and one a “score saver” version which Keeps a small skull plate.
You might be surprised what you can do with some super glue. Looks like only 3 pieces to glue back together. Even if you can see the crack probably would look better than a fake skull. Doubt you would even notice on the wall.
Looks like a pretty easy jigssaw puzzle...x2 on super glue.
Loctite super gel is easy to apply, and dries totally clear. Hold pressure for 30 to 45 seconds, and the cracks will mostly disappear if you have the proper angles.
There’s a lot of smaller pieces not in pic missing.. I’m thinking I might give the super glue a try...
Charlie, I saw mikes but didn’t know if a deer skull would work. Thanks for responses guys
The horns are just sheaths....might be glued on with bondo or even just a wad of caulk, depending on who did it. Get a new Pronghorn skull and put your sheaths on it. Skip the fake ones. Easy peasy.
The sheaths will not fit on another skull I have found. They are unique fit. You probably could cut the bone down on a another one and make it work. But the angle and curve of bone different for each. I played around with ones I have.
The "bones" are just altered using a angle grinder....you can even cut them down to 3" stubs...if your anal you can drill a dowel into the stub and use bondo….Durabond...caulk or even Greatstuff spray foam to fill the sheath....slide into position and let set.
Wait for another skull...I think the repro's looks cheap
You could always locate a cape and have a shoulder mount made.
Yeah, I have one on a fake skull. It's just not the same.
I have done a couple of mountain mikes skulls. The fix for the "fake" look is to spray them with rust-oleum multicolor textured paint. It is dead flat and has grit in it. Difficult to tell from real one until you get close. The suture lines in the bones are not as evident as the real one although you could darken those sutures before using this paint and then would look great.
We used JB Weld then white painted over.Looks great!
I think you should just plan another hunt and kill a new one.
You have nothing to lose by trying the glue.
I have a caribou with a fake skull. Looks fine from a long distance without my glasses on.
Go on eBay buy an antelope European cheap and swap the horns... thank me later...
Edit... I just saw Franklin posted the same thing...
I also noticed someone else said you can’t use a different skull due to sheath size. Not true you can shave the core down if it’s too big or add clay/ Bondo if too small
Superglue.
A fake 'skull' is an abomination.
Trying the gorilla super glue method and it looks like it will work... this was my Cali loper which is a tough tag to draw. Here’s a pic.
Chris use the clear gorilla glue... The brown stand and expands
K... I figured just wanted to point it out in case
Post up a pic after gluing it.
I had to do a substantial super glue repair on the middle skull in this picture after my son knocked it off of the top of the entertainment center. Has held up surprisingly well - that was 10yrs ago now.
Good luck with your repair job on an incredible trophy! Pete
My question....why didn`t you mount that goat!!! That was a beauty.
Franklin, I have other loper mounts.. and I think at that time my yearly taxi allowance was up.
I’d hit the boss up for an increase in your allowance! ;-)
Well the glue will work for now... did several coats after it set last couple days. You can see a lot of the nose and is gone but this will work for now.
I like it. It’s got a western, rustic look going for it. I wouldn’t change a thing. That being said, I hope my elk euros don’t fall!
Bomber goat! Congratulations!
He still looks cool as hell with that nose broken and a million times better than a fake skull! Like others have said, you can get another skull and just change out the horn sheaths but he looks good now!
I had an ibex skull get knocked off the wall and blow up. Put the jig-saw puzzle back together with the bigger pieces and GoatTuff fletching cement. Found the little nose pieces and other little stuff over several months under furniture and the base-board heater several and glued them on as well. You could not tell that it had ever been broken after I found most of the pieces.
