I gotta get my kid down to the archery lanes soon, but in the mean time another vid.
Nice fish, I caught a 33" through the ice today. Not my biggest but still fun as hell.
33" is still nice, heading out tomorrow to chase some flags with my son and buddy Chris. That pic is back when I had all my teeth!
Nice David !!! Love the girth on those monsters you’re catching.....
More than one use for a hockey stick up here!
grape nice pike! Are you going bear hunting this spring?
yep...Saskatchewan and Manitoba
Here’s one from last year... I’m planning on going this weekend if everything works out.
Hope you are putting those big ones back down the hole.
yep...they go back in....not always so easy either big pike..little hole
This was a great day 4 years ago, my son who was 10 at the time caught 11 over 40”
You have a tremendous pike fishery to catch that many 40” plus pike.
indeed, that was far and away the best day we have ever had.
Grubby that is an amazing day. I can't even fathom a day like that!
Here's a 43 incher
Here's a 43 incher
And a 44 incher
And a 44 incher
Gotta love those big pike!
When I lived back in MI years back up in Gods Country.
On the fly rod must be fun, and spearing very cool!
Elite1...that's A LOT of pickled pike laying there! Mmmm!!
That was a day that most likely will never be duplicated. 18 to 21 pounds only problem with spearing you can’t release them.
Went to Ontario few years ago. Had tremendous fishing. In three days I caught 20 plus pike over 35”, biggest was 44”. This was in late May, so ice out.
Myself and two buddies caught 160 today here in Alaska. The silliest thing I’ve ever seen as far as fishing. Incredible day!
Nice pike Nick, what were you guys using? 160 fish, that's unheard of, amazing day, but silly is a good way to describe that too!
We went through around 15lbs of herring. Just used a chunk of it on a single hook spoon. When we ran out of herring we used pike liver from the ones we filleted.
I need to catch some Pike! Looks fun!
We brought a hand scale and had a little competition. 10lbs was in the lead for awhile. Then 13, the a pile of 14-15. Then I thought I had it sealed up with a 16 only for my buddy to land a 23 just a few minutes later.
It was great having a scale, much like bears, people seem to over estimate weight on a fish.
This one was 44” and 23.5lbs.
Saskatchewan was a blast on Pike!!
Giant gators!!! Congrats!!!
Those little 3-4 pounders make incredible shore lunches in the summer!
Can't wait to get back to fish Canada!
Went again yesterday for a few hours. Not as hot as last time but we still landed around 50 with a few nice ones in the 12-16lb range.
Great pike Nick. Grape where are you catching those monsters?
Chasing tip ups in March is a blast to sitting on endgate 6 pack of bud light deer sausage on the grill doesn’t get much better
Man... eat the little ones and put those big ones back in.
Out of the over 200 we caught this past weekend, I kept 4 in the 10lb range, my other buddy kept 8 and another kept 10. There are over 30,000 pike over 20" wintering in the river we were on and F&G has a quota they'd like to reach, though they never have. It's a subsistence fishery and you can only keep 10 per household per day, which many people were in fact doing. We let all the big fish go.
You got to love it when someone states, " ARE YOU STUCK ON THE BOTTOM!"
Did u catch them at the mossy river? Those r nice ones guys.
Nice! We had a very slow spring. I would have loved a couple more weeks to fish and the ice conditions would definitely bear it.
Alexis we were at Lac Du Bonnet Lake.
