Reading through Pat's review, I noticed the Vertix has a "hook" in the string, I've seen this on other bows as well.

What's it for?

Assuming it might be a string leech to dampen vibration on the string? Sounds right.

Actually probably a monkey tail string silencer in retrospect.

The two black "hooks" in the pics are dampners....if that is what you're looking at???

Love it, the real answer, then some entertaining ones!

Thanks for both!

Word on the street is, that hook is an extra one for a bra strap. Mathews finally realized it's core audience was either women or guys who can't pull more than 45 lbs, so it only made sense to include something practical...in case ya lose one out in the field. ;-D

They are probably clevices that were added to simplify attaching a crane to the bow in order to raise it into your treestand because it's so heavy.

Remember when get over 30 it’s time to shed the young man bow and get a Mathews.

“ Refuse to follow”! That tag line is a surrender to Mathews. Love it!

That hook is to drag your self to the truck after carrying a 10 pound Mathews all day long! LMAO!

Martha Stewart must be CEO of Hoyt now with all those rubber kitchen spatulas stuck all over their new bows.

Hoyt for the frills. Mathews for the kills.
