Me and my hunting partner filled our January archery tags last week. We got there the evening of the 1st but didn’t hunt until the 2nd. He killed on the 3rd and I killed on the 5th.
We saw a decent amount of deer. The rutting action was decent as well. It was the first time I have ever seen two bucks fight. They were fighting for leftovers because neither was the dominant buck. The dominant buck kept running them off.
Took me almost 3 hours to get in position to kill my buck. My shot was not close. Arrow blew threw the middle of one shoulder and out the front of the opposite shoulder. He went 35 yards, danced around a while then tipped over.

My buddy shot his buck at 43 yards. Double lung. Arrow passed through him another 25 yards. His buck maybe went 20 yards and tipped over.
We’re both using Exodus broad heads. They’re devastating.

Great buck, but looking at the cover behind you on the hill, you gotta be a ninja to slip up within bow range. Congrats !

Two days it didn’t get above freezing and a crazy freezing fog iced up the desert. It looked really cool. The other two days I was getting sunburned. It had to be 60 degrees.

I called in some Javelina without a call. I just used my mouth and hand. We videoed some of it but I don’t know how to upload videos.

Is that cool? Or what? I saw a gang of 4 running across the side of a ridge while scouting a week before my hunt. They never used to be in the areas I hunt.
