Pat can you add a “ Like “ button?

Often enough I’m too lazy to respond to a post but would like to let the poster know I like it... A like button similar to Facebook would be great... Thanks in advance
Sounds like it's like the internet version of adult diapers.
Mark, no offense, but part of Bowsite's genius is Pat's making it unlike the rest of social media and especially all the other BB coded message boards.
Ike I don’t know if social media existed when Pat created The Bowsite.. I bet 20 people would like to click like on the first post already....lol
For the record I’m kidding... unless Pat does it then I’m a genius
It would be potentionaly suicidally devastating to the self anointed elites to find out they only got a few Likes for their back slapping chest thumping pontificating diatribe.
Mark, most of the music we listen to now hadn't been imagined while Beethoven made some of the best music ever made. Ok, rednecks, substitute Kenny Rogers and Johnny Cash for Beethoven. Point is, it doesn't matter that Bowsite is old. The point is, Pat is old and fat.
To be serious for a moment, I came here to get advice and share experiences . I hope it continues to serve that purpose. I would hate to see it become a popularity contest.
greenmountain, there is (occasional) great advice here and lots of shared experiences. But mostly we have a good time. All of which is akin to real hunting.
I`ve always wanted a like button. No harm in that.
And emoticons. LOTS of emoticons. And avatars, and quotes under our signatures, and maybe some pop up adds from the sponsors! I want it to look like an online casino when I get on here! Would be really helpful at work so people wouldn't think I was on a hunting site.
Huntcell... FTW! Lol
Pleas like this post, I could kill myself tomorrow.
Right on Huntcell! Well said!
Don’t get these guys too excited or they will fall off their walkers....

Intentionally or not....you just described Archery Talk. They don't have a "Like" function, which some have repeatedly suggested. But they have emoticons and popup ads beyond sponsors to ladies T-shirts, shoes, insurance, etc. If keeping it simple is a safeguard against that junk, then I will take BS the way it is.
Pat 'old and fat' he just looks like that cause he's short . Give the little guy a break ;)
Leave bowsite the way it is !!! It’s one of the few sites that you can enjoy and not fight all the pop ups and clutter . There are some sites I go to and after about 2 second I leave it because it’s such a PITA .
I imagine a like button would abridge a significant amount of potentially substantive posts - for precisely the reason stated in the OP.
Besides, life has an economy and we need to respect that. If we're too lazy to type a few characters or (gasp!) a whole sentence, we probably don't need to imagine anyone cares to see our "likes."

Agree.
Please don't go down that road!
Everybody doesn't need a trophy!
I've often felt the same way, but when I extrapolate what a like button would do to the site, I prefer to leave it the way it is. Simply put, forums change when there becomes a form of measurable success to each individual post. I don't think it changes it for the better. I think that's part of what has kept bowsite unique.
There are some times when a solid library of emoticons wouldn't hurt though...
Pat, can we at least get the poop emoji?
If we are going to have a “like “ button than I vote we have a “love” button. That’s right boys.... “love”. Don’t be afraid to say it!
Also.... that way we could recruit hipsters into the hunting fraternity.
I was just the other day thinking about how much better I like the Bowsite than the other outdoor sites I frequent because of the simplicity here. All the little meaningless "stuff" that comes along with the other simply takes away from the real content. I know some like it but my vote is keep it simple and to the point as it has been. There I said my peace, if Pat makes a like button I won't hold my breath and flop on the floor because not everyone agrees with me. I promise.
I don't want a "like" button, but like Brotsky, a poop emoji, as well as the flip-off emoji would be great. I text a certain Bowsiter frequently, and the flip-off emoji is handy
See?!? Perfect example..I’m normally too lazy to comment but I found it funny.... While your at it Pat... possibly a LOL button?
Here is a news flash. If it is not worth the time to type a response, it is not worth the time to click on a like button or an emoji. If you need half assed support from people you barely know, post on Facebook. This is Bowsite not the "mutual admiration society".
I'd say "pass". As a web developer, I've done this before, not as simple as you think you have to record who the originator is (can't like your own stuff), who liked it already (so you can't have the same guy "liking" it 10000000 times), then you have to display which brings up UI issues, including responsive mode, as well as mobile apps (does bowsite have a driod/ios app?). Add in storage to track and more bytes transferred per post, never mind if you allow "like" on a reply.
All for what?
Plus, Pat has a day job....
Only if a dislike button comes along too. Always thought that should be a package deal. If you want my feeback it ain't gonna be all butterflies and rainbows.
This one would be very useful at times....
Thanks for clearing that up Brian...
Ohh yea and thanks to the guys who actually could tell it was a joke and added some humor
The uniqueness of bowsite is that everything done on it currently still requires a certain amount of time and thought. The “like” button lends itself too much to the “instant posting” mentality in my mind and will be the beginning of a direction change I personally wouldn’t like to see
Sheesh...some pretty deep thoughts in here. I would just like to have a "like" button to recognize posts by people like Paul@thefort when he goes goose hunting, because, well, ummm...I like them.
Like button ? We don't need no stinkin' like button !
We don’t need a like button, but we sure could have used an ignore button before the new year!!!
I want a middle finger emoji available too!
How about a “POOF” button? If more than half of the people posting give you a “POOF”...then “POOF” your gone! Would be very useful on the community forum. 8^D
Pat is not old and fat. He’s young and spry like the rest of us
I would agree with the "like" button, but only if there is also a "scoped crossbow" and a "when they fail to open" symbol.
How about a timestamp on posts?
For people who think they are more important than they really are.
How bout an assclown emoji for our resident assclown? I know the CT boys and many others would support it!
How about a dead deer emoji, so the CT boys would know what one looks like?
I kid, I kid! Going ahead, hit the like button folks. ;)
How about a post count so we can see who is the king of Bowsite and always follow along ? Not...
Ike's comment about Pat in one of his earlier posts seems spot on to me :-)
This one would certainly see a lot of use...
Could you guys post up some video and pics of your cats doing cute tricks???? heheheheheh......
Thank you o merciful one ;)
What about Meghan Markle emoji's ?
I think Pat just gave me the middle finger emoticon...
Dislike would be way more fun
This would be a great emoji for various responses..
I’m with bigswivel, I like the idea of a “dislike” button. Would be too funny.
Hahaha, man I love this place...........just the way it is!
I actually thought Pat was looking slimmer on his last Matthews bow video review...
"Does this Vertix make my butt look big?"
If bowsite updates this social medium it should be different. like if something is good it is a double lung shot. if it is bad a gutshot. maybe have a snowflake also.
Yep, I vote for the Dis Like Button also! ..... or Thumb Down ......
Also an Alexandria Ocasio Cortez emoji
I need a button that allows me to move my posts up higher in a thread and Embry's down lower cause he's always saying clever stuff I wish I thought of, and it hurts my feelings.
I'd also like a feature that allows me to stretch the antlers on the pictures of the deer I shoot.
The neighborhood social media site "Nextdoor" allows you to block all posts from certain individuals by clicking on their profile and clicking "mute". The thread goes on but that person(s) posts dont show up in your view. I vaporized one chronic angry drunk poster on our mountain and my attitude is much better for it....
Jaquomo.... can you see this?
I dislike "like". Push a button!!!!!!!!!!????????? When was the last time some of you who favor a like button, actually had a face to face conversation with someone? my best, Paul
I'm sure I would never be able to find the like button anyway.
“I actually thought Pat was looking slimmer on his last Mathews bow review “
I think that review was filmed shortly after the great turkey debacle.
What would be nice is a "reply with quote" button so it is obvious when someone is responding to a particular post. I say no to Likes.
