Guys I had an incredible hunt this past September in Newfoundland with Conne River Outfitting. While I was primarily on a mission for woodland caribou I was able to harvest a caribou, moose and black bear to complete my Newfoundland Slam in only 4 days of hunting. My woodland caribou just got scored and certified and it will be entered into the B&C books at #33 all time at 340 6/8”. A true world class animal. I am beyond excited and grateful and if you have ever considered a hunt in Newfoundland I would strongly encourage you to go for it. Happy Hunting

If this caribou was an archery kill, it would become #4 in the P&Y record book.

Bowtech Prodigy 60lbs with victory vap arrows with G5 Montec broadheads. I shot the moose on September 18th in the worst wind and rain storm I have ever hunted in. I was sitting on a ridge overlooking an opening and he slipped in from behind me and damn near stepped on me and I shot him before he realized what was going on it was my 2nd day to hunt. Next day outfitter said we needed to move to find more caribou as we hadn’t seen any the previous 2 days. So the 19th we got picked up by the plane and flew my moose meat out and then got settled into camp and got a little scouting in late for a few hours before dark and saw a few caribou a few miles away and several bears. Morning of the 20th we hiked about 11 miles without seeing a caribou. At about 9:30 am we spotted a decent bear in a good spot to approach so we made a move and I harvested him by 10 am. We processed him quickly and decided to hike out and get the Argo for meat recovery and on the hike back to camp to get the Argo I spotted my first and only bull caribou of the trip following 4 females headed right in our direction. They kept coming and strolled to about 50 yards where I shot him. He was down by noon. So within 3 hours I harvested my bear and caribou about 600 yards apart. Crazy lucky trip and all 3 animals I harvested basically stumbled into my lap. Just a lucky blessed few days and I was rewarded for being out in rainy terrible weather.

What’s even more amazing than your hunt success is the fact you have the mount back already

Also just curious... were all three bow kills is so Even more impressive

He said they were bowkills

From: Cowalkabout
21-Jan-19
Man this is a tough forum. If I knew how to remove the thread I would, but all animals were taken with my Bowtech. Moose at 7 yards, bear at 34 yards and caribou at 50 yards. Also, my taxidermy guy did an amazing job and rushed me to the front of the line so my mount could make it to Bass Pro to be displayed leading up to the Big Game Awards. Happy Hunting Guys

Cowalkabout, Don't take offense but when you post trophy pics with no weapon and state the caribou's B&C ranking with no mention of P&Y, it makes guys curious. Congrats again on your fantastic bowhunt!

From: Cowalkabout
21-Jan-19
I haven’t had time to get a P&Y scored yet but plan to very soon. It’s been a crazy time getting everything done since I got back from the trip including Air Canada losing my bow and antlers for almost a week.

Jerrod, congrats x3 BIGTIME! Fantastic and thanks for sharing!! Don’t take it the wrong way, most here aren’t too hard on guys, but with a world class animal like that bou followed by two more kills guys just “really gots to know!” And you weren’t exactly blunt about them being archery kills, we are all super happy for you, and I know I would’ve have been even if they happened to fall to a bullet. Congrats again

From: kota-man
21-Jan-19
That’s gotta be top 5 P&Y Woodland Caribou...Awesome...Congrats again.

From: Kurt

B&C score is P&Y score if officially measured I believe.

From: kota-man

Well, cowalkabout, that is one very fine bow hunting accomplishment!! There's nobody here that won't take some luck if it happens along, so congratulations. You still had to make the shot's and seal the deal!!

Very nice caribou. Will you enter it into P&Y as well? Will be #4 all time as mentioned in P&Y!
