Some claim that strange things happen on a full moon but then what might happen with a full eclipse of the moon? Stranger still?

I took down the tent blind prior to heading for AZ on the Coues deer hunt two weeks ago, so this morning I decided to just hide naturally behind a small tree and wear the ASAT leafy wear.

Not ten minutes later this group of geese flied over and they see the decoys.

Now here is where this hunt gets really STRANGE. I heal Chase to within 15 yards of the goose as the arrow was still in it. I set him down and approach the goose, step on the head/neck of the goose and remove the arrow. As soon as I take my foot off of its neck, it scrambles away, takes flight and is just skimming the ground but heading away fast. I yell at Chase to fetch as he does in quick haste but the goose is gaining air but Chase is right behind it. They both disappear over the rise in the hill as both are heading for the highway. Oh NO!

Glad it ended well, sounds like an Oh-%#$(%#!! moment!

I reached down to pick up a duck last week and it got up and flew off. But I had a shotgun instead of a bow in my hand so I finished him off as he was gaining altitude at about 30 yards.

Great story, Paul! Chass is a great dog. Looks like my neighborhood drop tine buck moved down the road a couple miles. Hopefully he won't get whacked on the road.
