Has anyone had any experience with Chilcotin River Outfitters in BC? They offer lynx and limited mountain lion with dogs. I did not find any info in the Outfitter Reports. They also offer wolf trips. Thanks for any info you can share!

From what I know...they are a good outfitter with good hounds and a good area. A booking agent friend of mine has used him for years with great success.
That being said....I had a friend go up this season with a full pocket of tags...and came home with nothing.

Thanks PA... haven't been able to find much info on them other than on Facebook and a crappy YouTube video.

The owner posts frequently on accuratereloading and many members on there have hunted with him. Everything I've read has been positive but I have no firsthand experience. You should be able to find some hunt reports on AR.

Overland, I think you are thinking of Chilcotin Hillbilly, that is me. chilcotin River Outfitters is Nick Yarish, I have talked to him a couple times when he was looking to buy a dog off me. Seems to be a stand up guy but is not a member of the GOABC.

You're absolutely right. Lots of positive comments on AR on skinner creek, and I have no knowledge (first-hand or otherwise) regarding Chilcotin River Outfitters. Thanks for the catch.

I did notice Chilcotin River Outfitters is not a member of the BC Guide Assoc.... not necessarily an automatic red flag since he's a younger guy.... Just trying to cover some bases.

I went hunting with them this year, they did a great job and worked hard for you every day. Your right, Nick is young but has good dogs and hires good houndsmen with dogs to get the job done. I met the guy that went home with nothing...as we all know that happens and sucks!!. His week was full of rain and then freezing tempertures. The dogs got tore up from the ice on top of 3.5 feet of snow. I think they had a hard time catching the cats. I dont know for sure, but I think they ran cats everyday or at least 5 times in seven days. He also saw a wolf, but the temperatures were above average and the ice on a lake that it was on was unsafe to go on. Ive had hunts like that were nothing can go right and wont. That being said, Nick has a great area and he hunts big cats. The camp is comfortable and meals were good. It did help there was a good houndsman in camp the week that I was there, to overcome the elements

My wife and I have booked a 2022 hunt with Nick and Chilcotin River Outfitters. He has been very professional to correspond with and keeps a pretty good thread running on Facebook. I'm optimistic on our hunt....
