Just over the ridge...
Elk

Last year, the last Friday of archery season, Nick Midwest had just taken off to head back home.
My buddy and I made a plan to go into a new spot for the evening hunt. It wasn’t all that far of hike, maybe 3/4 mi or so up an old logging road. I had scouted some from GE and I thought i t looked good.
We got setup and began calling. Not long after and I hear a hoof knock on a log. I turn around and here come a nice 5x5 walking up the road right to me!
I pivot and draw. He starts walking right to me. 22yds. There was a downed tree between us and I just couldn’t slip and arrow thru the branches.
The next morning, my son, buddy and I went back to the area, dropped down just over the ridge and found this. (The elk the night before was at the top of the ridge in the pic)
The area was loaded with elk sign. But it wasn’t meant to be with only 1 day left.
I can’t wait to get right back there.
Beautiful looking area! Makes me long for September!
Any ridge holding elk is a must place to be.
I am 67 years old and want to return to an old backpacking spot that holds some great memories...last time up there was 2009...plan on going up in June and nose around...it's a draw area now but I have the points for elk and deer....Man, if I could just "git er done" one more time up there I think I would be at peace just settling for a little easier hunt for the remainder of my years...
Found bulls here 3 years running. Come September, i’ll be back again.
Yeah, cabin fever is getting bad.

Well since we're all sharing....hoping I don't have to go back here because I draw somewhere else but also secretly looking forward to it!
Some pretty country......

A mountain side in CO that I have been keeping as a back up for a while. It's time to try it out next year. Of course, Lord willing

After looking at this from my son’s window in Wisconsin I need to see those kind of pictures especially with more of this stuff forecasted for Nebraska just when we return home
OK Brad...here's my House last week, in "Sunny California"...
I found a place like that once. Can't remember how to get there though in case anyone is asking ;)
Was in elk here 4 out of 5 days this last September. I returned home, I don’t think my mind ever left
