For the guys looking for left over tags or cant believe they didn't draw a tag as a second choice when there were leftovers last year. You need to wait until the resident draw is over. Most if not all of the leftover tags come from the under subscribed resident tag allocations. Very few if any non resident tag allocations are under subscribed.
What I want to know is who are the 3 guys that drew the general tag with 12 points and who are the other 3 that drew it with 11.

I applied for an area that took between ~7 points last year and it went for TEN points this year. To me that suggests people bailing and cashing in points because of the higher price of points and licenses.

I think if that were the case the group would have shown up where there average was at. I averaged in with some friends last year and I am pretty sure we showed up at the point level of our average.

Still can't believe first time apply for Elk threw name in pot for Wyoming so why not with myself and a buddy and we drew. OTC Colorado will have to wait for another year, thanks Wyoming can't wait for September. This has been a dream since I started watching elk hunting videos, now its happening!!!

I'm in. Draw odds played out almost identical to what I hoped for. There were guys with the same amount of points as I had that didn't draw so even though the odds were in my favor....I still needed a little luck.

4 of us put in. I had 4 and son had 6. Brother and his daughter had zero. The 2.5 gave us a near guarantee of drawing GEN and we did.
Giving up my points enabled me to hunt a couple weeks with my family while I still can. I'll be 72 this fall and have taken as big a bull as I ever will. The family hunt is a lot of fun and this will be the first year in a while we've had anything except cow tags.
I bet if you could talk to the 11 and 12 point guys they all have a story about why the hunt they are doing means more to them than a special unit.

I applied for a unit that was 100% last year in the special draw and didn't draw. According to GoHunt I have 20% chance of drawing in Arizona. If I strike out there I'll just have to burn my Wyoming antelope points!

Well, it is great to get on here this early AM and see the happy crowd!
The Dad & son from Louisiana did draw with their 3 points. While on the phone-speaker going helping them apply for the very first time in Wyoming, I told Don & Don jr., that I wasn't going to join the Group appl and have it average 2 instead of 3 with them both having 3 pts.
2 points was more in the 50/50 chance (2018) than 3 being prolly a lock to draw.
I didn't draw Gen elk with 0 points going in...………..'cheapie fee' of course
I did draw my RP cow/calf though so it will be just fine in my Wyoming Bow Elk camp this September!
So sorry for those that didn't hit the tag they wanted, dang it.

Looks like Timberline53 and me are going to make an expedition to 53. Made it with 8 pts . Any thoughts on should I haul my mules from Va. or try to get hauled in by someone else? Been hunting Co. for over 20 years OTC last 7 with mules. Makes it nice in a lot of ways. Really looking froward to this chance to hunt this area.
