What is this Critter?
Just received March 2019 Issue of Fur-Fish-Game and photo indicates trapped in Ontario... Magazine doesn't indicate what it is...
And guessing a unique color phase of a Fisher from the weasel family, but only guessing...
Pat or moderators, if breaking any copy right rules since photo taken from a magazine, please delete... Thank you...
It's a Fisher, larger cuz to the Pine Martin
Martins can have strange color combinations like this one. It looks a lot larger than it really is. I’ll try and find some other odd colored ones
Here's a good pic of a fisher.
Figured it was a Fisher, just didn't realize they came in different color phases like that...
looks like a martin to me
Holy crap JTV - I had to show your response to my wife. We were both in tears laughing!!
Marten. Friend has 2 just like it.
Its clearly a marten.
A fisher is much larger and seldom comes in other than the common color.
Marten often display an array of pelt colors, from pale orange to jet black.
While the internet is full of good information, I'm basing my opinion on the fact that I have trapped and skinned THOUSANDS of marten, including some real pale ones. Pete
Pine marten. Crazy color.
I caught this small fisher back in ‘85. Not real big but brought some nice $$$.
No idea what that original pic is, prob some millennial type fur bearer that was abused as a youngster
Canary color phase pine marten.
Trump phase pine martin. They get this color from eating the squirrels that climb over the fence into your garden.
I think it's a martin too.
I was wrong, it is a martin, after really looking at the head compared to the fisher vs martin, it's got the shorter martin muzzle.
