Burned my 13 Elk points last year and didn't think lightning could strike twice. Thank god for Loyalty and hunter Ed points. Don't know which unit but all good.

Some of you may have WAAAAAY too much confidence in the AZ system. Don't start loading the truck yet just because of a CC hit. Year before last, I applied for archery elk and pronghorn point only. My CC was hit for the elk tag amount. When the portal information was uploaded, my portal said unsuccessfull for elk and successful for a rifle pronghorn hunt. Again, I put in for archery elk, and pronghorn point only. Final result from AZ Game and Fish was NO tag, and lame excuse that the computer had a glitch.

bowhunter1 - I'm ahead of you in age (54) and behind you in points (12). Nonetheless, struggling with the same internal debate. I had a plan until AZ put the cap on NR. Now, how long will I hold on? Should I cash in on mid tier unit (hunted 5B S previously and was great) or just rifle hunt? Should I keep going and bow hunt AZ for retirement gift?? Tough decisions

You guys with 15 points are you just applying for the BEST units in the state and that’s why you aren’t drawing? Seems incredible that you still have 5 or 6 more years to go. I’ve drawn 3 tags in 18 years...

you may be dreaming to think you have a shot at 9 in 5-6 years if at 16 points today. Presume you have studied the points to draw trend for nonres. you may be 12 years away if that soon.

I didn't get any hits, but if I IDENTIFY as a hunter with an elk tag, the government run Game & Fish has to allow me to hunt them, right? Otherwise, they're violating my rights.

My hunting partner just called me this afternoon. We were charged Saturday night for a cow elk tag for the 5th year in a row. I can NOT believe it. At our age... 70's we can not afford to wait for a Bull tag. We would rather be hunting elk than roasting in the desert.

I'll still make use of my AZ license and go out and chase some deer next December...
Now I'll just be applying for NM long shots and I'll have to decide if I want to cash in Colorado points and try to draw or just buy a preference point this year...
