Ok here is the story on this bull. After pretty well focusing on this bull for nine days with lots of video and close calls along with some highs and lows the day I harvested him came about because of another hunter being way over aggressive on him and cutting me off and pushing the bull and his cows up into the timber. Knowing the general direction they were going I had a couple of options on where he was heading. I heard a bull bugling below me and thinking it was him I dropped down towards a basin only to see that it was not the bull I was after. Hearing another bull bugling back up the ridge I headed back up the hill and could tell the elk were headed in my direction. Suddenly a cow broke out of the timber about 40 yards from me and headed down the hill. Then within seconds I heard the bull scream again very close and so I hurried and set up to see if he was going to follow the same route as the other cow had. As another cow broke out of the timber I could see the bull right on her tail. As they headed down the hill he hooked her and she came by me with him in tow passing by me at 5yards. As he quartered away I drew and shot watching my arrow enter at the last rib and bury all the way to the feathers and as he continued down the hill I could see him start to go down in about 75 yards. My equipment consisted of a 62” Palmer Carbon @ 55 lbs with 5575/400 Goldtip shafts with 125 grain Razor Cap broadheads.
