In a craft shop in Juneau they had a shoulder mount of a black tail deer with a snarling mouth full of coyote teeth. Some in the store did not see what I was laughing about.

How about this one!?
I also have a customer who has a mountain lion mounted lying on a log wirh an impala draped over the log as if the cougar just killed it! Sorry, no pic of that one. Just very odd...

Jim, few probably recognize that one is not a natural prey species of the other and it was a way for the owner to "double up" on a mount if he already wanted to mount the impala and then shot a cat most likely.

My elk hunting buddies and I ate at a place in Yampa Co. called The Antlers Café and Bar. The two mounts that I remember were the Colorado Muledeer (actual mule with mulie antlers) and the Colorado Rearwolf (crazy looking mount made from the rear end of a deer with eyes inserted and a mouth full of sharp teeth in the butthole). We didn't notice the Rearwolf until after having consumed several adult beverages and we were laughing like idiots when we suddenly noticed it. Great food and atmosphere back in those days, not sure if it is still open?

I was gifted a copy of “Crap Taxedermy”. It’s a book that I highly recommend.

In a bar in Montana quite a few years ago.....a large, probably 12-15 pound range, lake trout mounted with a quite realistic covering of beaver fur. The sign under it proclaimed the "Rocky Mountain Furred Trout" with the additional line "It's really cold in those lakes". Should have taken a photo.

If this works this should be the famous Colorado Rear Wolf that I mentioned in a previous post. Found this while looking through some old pictures.
